Kim has reached 7 finals (+ she lost two times against Serna in a semi final) so far this year.

Can someone give me the statistics regarding to the biggest number of finals a player has reached in one year ?

I believe she will reach her 8th final at Rosmalen before Wimbledon.

In the second half of the year she will begin playing indoor tournaments. Everybody knows she is very hard to beat at those tournaments. So, it wouldn't suprise me one bit if she reaches more than 15 finals this year.

Has a player ever done better ?

I think Hingis was in 13 finals in 1997 and only lost one...the infamous FO

Also, I think in 2000 Davenport was in about 11 finals...

Navratilova was 86-1 one year, so that must represent 15 or so finals?

ASV in her best years would have made those finals or more. I wonder how many did in the 94-96 era

From 1994-1996 Arantxa made 28 finals with a 13-15 final record!

That underpins Navratilova's dominance of 29 finals and 28 titles in 2 years in 83-84

Steffi Graf's 1989 must have been spectacular. She lost only 2 matches that year - to Sanchez Vicario and Sabatini.

Monica got to the final of all her events in 1991 about 16 events

Monica had an incredible streak of reaching finals -- 21 in a row from 90-92. In 1991, as MR says above, she reached 16 finals -- all her events.

So it would be fair to say that Navratilova's year of 1983 would be close too if not the best ever? 16 tournaments, 15 finals for 15 wins?

Billie Jean King easily tops Martina's feat for finals reached. She won over 20 events in 1971 and must have reached more finals-I'll try and find out how many.

And in 1956 Althea Gibson played just about every week. I'd bet she has high numbers as well.
