I read that Kim Broke her right arm in Oz open and the doctors have said that she have to be 3 weeks out on tour...So the Scottsdale tournament is near so it might be that she doesn´t play in there....Sad!!!

She didn't break her arm. She did have pains in her arm and the doctors advised her to give it a rest. So she won't be playing for a few weeks, that's true, but her arm is not broken.

An arm break should take one off the tour for more than three weeks. Maybe it is a muscle injury.

ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) _ Kim Clijsters, the world's fifth-ranked player, pulled out of the Diamond Games tournament with a stress fracture and will be out for at least three weeks.

Clijsters, 18, broke her upper right arm in Australia early this year. She reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, losing to eventual champion Jennifer Capriati in three sets.

``Australian doctors have told her to rest,'' Diamond Games organizer Bob Verbeeck told Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.

Clijsters' 17-year-old sister, Elke, will make her pro debut at the Diamond Games tournament, which begins Feb. 11.

Top 10 players Serena Williams, Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo and Jelena Dokic are committed to play in the event.

A player who wins the Diamond Games three times in any five-year span will get to keep the golden trophy studded with 1,650 diamonds. Antwerp is the world's biggest trading center for the gems.

It is actually reported as a stress fracture.
But it's too hard for them to write that.. so they say it is broken.. that's what they kept of writng last year, when Anna had her stress frature in her foot.. " Anna has a broken foot"

Kim Clijsters will not play at the Proximus Diamond Games due to an shoulderinjury. Kim will be a vistor, Lleyton Hewitt will also be in Antwerp as a spectator. - i didnt think you could break your shoulder ... seriously how could she break her arm its not like the bones would break while she was hittting her backhand or something .... if it did break she wouldve retired before the matches conclusion.

anybody know how close stress fracture is to a break?

I thought they were totally different, but I've seen knowlegable reporters use the two phrases interchangeably (not that that is a word of course! )


Break sounds very serious - not to mention highly improbable!

stress fracture is not even close to a break.

its totally different.

Stress fractures are harder to diagnose, as for breaks ...... you know when you've broken something

unfortunatly you never know when a stress fracture heals completely, just ask it Anna Kournikova she was out for 8 months.
I hope that Kim's fracture heals quick, the doctors said that it was only a very little one. She could play if she wants but then she takes the risk of making it a lot worse then it is now.
