This 19 yo (born August 21, 1996) from Olomouc is having a really solid year. She was out of the Top 600 at the start of the year (around 630), and she's now getting close to the Top 400, this week at a new CHR of 436 (+27). :D She could be a member of the Czech Top 100 army in a few years! :awww: :cheer:

Her best results this year are: SFs at 10K Trnava in February, QFs at 50K Olomouc at home in July as a qualifier, SFs at 10K Poertschash in Austria and 10K Prague in August.

She has wins over Chantal Skamlova, Nina Potocnik, Anastasia Pribylova, Olga Ianchuk, Gabriela Pantuckova, Karolina Stuchla, Pernilla Mendesova, Richel Hogenkamp, Lenka Jurikova, and Viktorija Golubic this year. :yeah:

Also has a QF appearance at 10K Bad Waltersdorf in Austria in July, and R2 appearances at 25K Plzen (as a qualifier), 75K Prague (she got a MDWC there), and 15K Leipzig (as a qualifier too) in August, and at 25K Dobrich in Bulgaria this week (again, as a qualifier).

So she's been having some good success at 10Ks but also managed to win matches in 15, 25, 50 & 75K MDs, which is pretty good as these summer European challengers have strong packed fields. :)

Last year she won her 1st and only singles pro title so far: 10K Michalovce in Slovakia in summer. She benefited from easier wins with her R1 and QF opponents' retirements that week, but that still was a very good week! :D She got wins over Natalia Vajdova, Vivien Juhaszova, and Jana Jablonovska in the final (3 & 1).
Also scored wins over Pernilla already , Sharrmadaa Baluu and Lesley Kerkhove last year. :yeah:
She made QFs of 25K Zawada in Poland, her last tournament last year, having beaten Olga Doroshina in R1, Kerkhove in R2 and she pushed Elitsa Kostova to 3 sets in the QF. ;)

Hopefully soon she won't have to play qualies anymore for 25Ks and below, and it will save her all her energy for the MD matches. :awww: Keep going Kaja2, pojd! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Edit: Interesting to note that Karolina didn't go the junior way. She only played 6 junior tournaments overall, never got a junior ITF ranking, and just started to play only pro tournaments from 2013 on. ;)

Kaja played the Bangkok 15Ks two weeks ago and last week! :)

The first week, she was the 8th seed, beat Kanami Tsuji 6-3 2-0 ret. in R1 and Mizuno Kijima 2 & 2 in R2, but she lost a close match against Nungnadda Wannasuk (who had previous upset 2nd seed Strakhova in R2) in QF, 3-6 6-4 5-7.

Last week she was unseeded and she flopped to (Q)Veronica Corning in R1, 4-6 6-2 2-6 :tears:

Kaja faced Jesika again today, inR2, and this time she thrashed her, 2 & 1  :bigclap:

Jesika is probably tired from last week, but it's still an excellent win for Kaja :D
