Born June 16, 1998 in New Delhi; training at the Schüttler-Waske Tennis Academy in Germany; CHR of 133 (last January) in juniors, and of 792 at the WTA in May. :)

She's won a G3 in Kolkata in January (beating Yinglak Jittakoat, 6-4 7-5 in the final :eek:h:).

Also made the SFs at 10K Nashik in May - double-bagelled Ujjini in R1, beat Maheta 0 & 2 in R2, Chamarthi 3 & 1 in QF, fell to Peddi Reddy in SF, 7-5 3-6 5-7.

This week she's having a strong week in Europe, she's through to the final at G1 International Junior Tournament of Offenbach on German clay! :D
Beat Xinyu Jiang, 7-6(1) 6-4 in R1, (8)Maria Paula Torres (#92), 0 & 1 in R2 , (WC)Katharina Gerlach, 2-6 7-5 6-2 in R3, (Q)Julia Rosenqvist, 4 & 3 in QF, and (5)Destanee Aiava (#79, CHR 49), 6-1 4-6 6-3 in SF today :bigclap:
It's interesting to see her having such a good week here because so far this year she's had good results but only playing weak Indian tournaments. ;)
Final vs. (15)Jessica Hinojosa Gomez (#112, CHR 102) tomorrow, good luck! :awww: :cheer:

Karman lost in R1 of G1 Allianz Kundler German Juniors this week in Berlin - 5-7 4-6 against (16)Karola Patricia Bejenaru (#101). Rather unfortunate to draw a solid seed directly in R1, but hey the scoreline is pretty close!

As a nice comfort, Kaman has reached a new CHR this week thanks to last week's title: #89 (+68) :D :yeah: breaking into the Top 100 for the first time! :yippee:

Hope she finishes the year inside the Top 50 now :awww:

Thank you for your support, Potapovushina.

Of all the Indian players on the junior circuit, male and female, I strongly believe that Karman is the one who will make a breakthrough on the professional circuit. She has the potential and the attitude to do well. I just hope she keeps her head in the game and does not get distracted by college scholarships!

Too bad she didn't play the Junior Wimbledon qualifying. I suppose her ranking would have been high enough for her to make the qualy draw?

I do hope she makes it indeed! :awww: I think the fact she's training at the Schuttler-Waske Academy is an excellent thing, it really seems like a great structure. :yeah: Also I believe that her looks are a nice plus - sponsors generally come way more easily and it's always welcome. :)

She seems to be a real sweetheart, and yeah her general attitude seems very good: she seems to be hardworking, passionate about the game and the fact that she has good success in doubles already is a great feat.

I don't know why she didn't try Wimbly qualies, her ranking would have allowed her to enter them yeah.

She played G2 IGTA Junior Cup in Germany two weeks ago: she was the 5th seed there, got a great win over Georgia Craciun (who's having good success in the pros, already inside the Top 700) in R1, 6-3 2-6 6-4 but lost to pusher Meghan Kelley in R2, 6-7(2) 4-6 :(
Last week she played G2 TC Bakkum Dutch Junior Open, she was the top seed but flopped badly to (Q)Sandra Bozinovic in R1, 0 & 4 :sobbing:

Her efforts after her great week in Offenbach weren't too convincing, hopefully she can find more consistency in the 2nd part of the year! :cheer:

She lost to Charlotte 5-7 6-3 (5)6-7 after serving for it at *5-4 and then *6-5 in the 3rd. :bigcry:  Must of been hard with the home crowd and everything, Djo-coeur who was supposedly there said that was the deciding factor. :awww: C R-M is a little over-ranked imo opinion and from what I've seen of her game it isn't that impressive really but perhaps I caught her on a bad day. Still, a great week for Karman and she did so well to push the World no.7 so close. :yeah:

I've just "discovered" her as such, since I saw she beat some pretty good players this week, plus 'cause she routined a Brit (Arbuthnott who's more of a doubles specialist tbh). So I did a little research and she's had some nice ITF results, I love how tall and pretty she is too. :inlove:

I think with this week's points added she'll rise to a new CHR of about 60. :) If she carries on playing like this she could surely be in the top 40 at least by the end of the year and then in the near future perhaps she could nab Yadlapalli's (who is seriously over-ranked) spot as no.1 ranked Indian junior girls player.

Her section for the USO MD:
(16)Katharina Hobgarski (GER) v (SE)Karman Kaur Thandi (IND)
Evgeniya Levashova (RUS) v (Q)Carson Branstine (USA)
Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) v Ingrid Neel (USA)
(2)Dalma Galfi (HUN) v (wc)Alexandra Sanford (USA)

That's a really tough match to start of with but Hobgarski tends to prefer clay so maybe she has a chance. GL!

Oh Karman :sobbing:  So close

But it's been such a great week for her! :D I really hope this last close loss won't ruin the confidence she'd been gaining just before, with regards to the pretty USO R1 match awaiting :awww:

Glad she has a new fan now too! :D But you didn't watch the match right nimble kitty, just read Djo-coeur's report?

Come on Karman, you can do it! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

She seemed quite philosophical and reflective about the whole loss on her Facebook page, so I think she'll be fine. :)

No unfortunately not. Sorry, I just tried to find it but I was mistaken and Djo-coeur's report that I was referring to was actually about C R-M against Muramatsu not Thandi. Although I suppose we can assume that it still would've been tough in a tight situation knowing that the crowd isn't on your side.

I reckon if she can keep this form going she can get the win but her results are so inconsistent.
