I posted this on the US Open forum, but the 10 people over there have not so much as viewed it!

Anyone here have an opionon??
-----------------------------------
WHY has NOONE labeled this semifinal of Jennifer vs Justine an ERRORFEST??

Hmmm.... I watched the match and certainly did not get that impression either, but the stats on the US Open site show 112 unforced errors committed. 69 by Justine and 43 by Jennifer.

If this had been Serena/Venus or Serena/Jennifer, this would have been hyped to the max.

Can ANYONE please tell me... just WHY is that!

There were also 254 points played, from the stat I saw. That would make the majority of the points not be UEs.

Having said that, it was the most dramatic match I've seen in a long, long time, although the quality was probably a notch below the two USO semis between Hingis and Venus in 1999 and 2000.

Most of the so-called UEs weren't actually unforced. The people who do the stats often class everything that isn't a direct winner as an Unforced Error.

In some matches this is so. When someone hits a pat-a-cake volley into the net, this is clearly an unforced error. But a lot of the errors in the Justine-Jennifer match were "forced", in that they were caused by the high standard, pace or positioning of the opponent's shot.

I saw a lot of that sort of shot get put down as UEs on the scoreboard.

So the UE count in this match is unfairly high.

because it wasnt a sister-sister final

the errors, especially from Henin's forehand, were poor. she has an amazing fh and for a long period, it let her down
Indeed justine 's FH left the building after 4-1 in the first. Never seen it like that

Yea, I knew someone would chop up that bullshyt excuse  Jennifers forehand stunk throughout that first set especially when Henin was up 4-1 and I guess Capriati just forced Henin to hit over 40 forehand errors.

Did you see the match?

I don't know what match YOU were watching, but that was acknowledged by commentators as one of the best women's tennis matches of all time! It was NOT an error-fest, as some people seem to be trying to insinuate. And anyone who says it was doesn't understand the basics of a competitive sport in which you have to take the standard and intensity of play into account, and not just read off statistics from a board.

right. when she has a slumping period, she finds it so hard to keep the ball in play for even one shot
Which makes it even more amazing that she managed to win the match.
I am still in a trance

well for you, im sure thats correct :tape:

i still cant help but feel you're kinda bitter about Serena beating Venus
That has nothing to do with it! Part of the reason sister finals are bashed is because it comes across that both players aren't giving it their all. The match that comes close to a "classic" is the 2002 Wimbledon final. Otherwise, it's not thrilling, edge of your seat tennis. It's just not. Hopefully it'll get better in the next 10 years that they play

i disagree. i think they are giving their all. its just they are so emotionally absent from the match. well Venus at least. whenever Serena plays you get emotion
