Top seeds Taiwan and second seeds India had the day off today. Three days of round robin matches and then three days of knockouts.

Not sure of the format, as this time I am seeing only three round robin groups instead of the usual four. I suppose the top 2 from each group plus two more will be making the quarterfinals. The semifinalists will make it to the world group-16

Australia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan are all missing from the regionals. I suppose they were scared of SARS ??

Go Sanaa, Go Tara, Go Kartiki, Go INDIA!!

Yes, the countries withdrew because of the SARS scare. Nothing to be afraid of actually, I'm still very much alive here. ;)

Nice work by Indonesia to upset Korea and stay in contention for a good spot in the QF draw. Looks like two teams from among HKG, NZL and PHI will miss the QF (not sure how they will decide who, as all may be winless; but NZL has pulled off two match wins - may be they will be the 8th team, along with the top 2 from Groups 1 and 3 and the top-3 from group 2)

NZ got into the semifinal as the only one among the three teams (NZL, PHI, HKG) who won a match, though not any of the ties. In both the ties NZL lost, they had one match win each. So they became the 8th team out of the 10 in the round robin to make the QF.
