Re: Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, USA

Great win for Germany against Canada ! :worship:

Good that they replaced weak in form Middendorf with Schunk. A smart move :)
Germany is a lot stronger with Guth as #1 and Schunk as #2 than Julia as #1 and Guth as #2.

Also favourites Russia, USA and Czech Republic are kicking ass :cheer:

Re: Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, USA

Deutschland :yeah:
Guth as #1 and Schunk as #2 is perfect.
Middendorf is not needed in singles. Only for doubles with Guth.

5 teams from Europe in QF
And then the big USA and CAN of course.
Only 1 from Asia. Why had they so many teams there ...
I hope we will get a dream SF: Russia vs CZE and Germany vs USA :)

Re: Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, USA

The important part:

In the Junior Fed Cup, a resurgent Germany side took all three points as they sailed past Serbia to ensure their place in the last eight. After a dramatic opening day defeat to rivals Morocco, captain Jasmine Woehr told ITFtennis.com some stern words were the key to her sides upturn in form.

“To be honest, it was a very tough talk after the first match, but I think sometimes that’s necessary. I saw a different reaction the next day, they completely changed in that match and today so I’m very happy about that.”

That team talk certainly seems to have worked as the Germans dismantled a Serbian side who were also seeking a quarter finals spot. Nastasja Schunk opened play with a 6-4 6-0 win over Natalija Senic before teammate Mara Guth raced past Fatma Idrizovic, winning 6-1 6-2.

Guth then partnered up with Julia Middendorf to record a quickfire 6-1 6-2 victory and seal all three points for Germany and send them through to the final eight in style.

Speaking to ITFTennis.com after the match, Guth and Middendorf seemed upbeat with Guth claiming her form has never been better.

“I think I played one of the best matches of my life yesterday,” enthused Guth, “I’m very happy about my win today as well and I think we as a team were great today. I like playing on clay, it’s my favourite surface.”

Re: Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, USA

The Russians will now face Czech Republic in the semi finals after the Czechs overcame Thailand thanks to wins from Barbora Palicova and Linda Noskova. Looking ahead to the next round, captain Daniel Vanek admitted his respect for the opposition but has full belief in his young charges.

“I think the Russian team are very good but they’re no better than my girls,” said Vanek. “Their ranking is good and I have a lot of respect for them but all three of my players are close to them. We can beat them.”

The Czechs played without their number one player Darja Vidmanova, a decision which Vanek admitted was a tough one given his personal loyalties.

“I’m the personal coach of Darja, so to play the other two players (Barbora Palicova and Linda Noskova) ahead of her was annoying on a personal level,” Vanek told ITFtennis.com. “It’s a shame for her but I have to do what’s right for the team, the other two are in better form right now.”

Darja herself was upbeat whilst observing her teammates from courtside but admits she hopes to be involved in the following rounds. “The best feeling is the playing the matches,” admitted Vidmanova. “I really like the atmosphere here, the club, the courts but the best feeling, of course, is to be playing here.”
