Just kidding. They had their chances in the first set and should have won that TB, but once again Vika/Murray came back from a 1-5 deficit.

I like Matwe, they seem to have fun playing together but Mixed is not very appealing for singles players. Even some doubles specialists (like Melo) skip it already.

It really is a symptom of being addicted to this site that I hardly follow men's doubles. :lol:

I used to follow it more, but spending time here (and the way the media follows singles for both men and women) just makes it easier to follow WTA and ATP singles, and WTA doubles.

That, and more of my favorite women players play doubles. (Especially JoLa.)

Losing the first set like that was tough, but yeah the second was very competitive up to that point. Yet they had a chance to make it 4-4, but Vika/Murray seem to rise their level when necessary. I was watching their third vs Farah/Groenefeld and thought that one was already over at 1-5 and missed the rest.

Now I'm wondering if Jo is going to play doubles in either Gstaad or Moscow. Kiki and Flipper are missing both tournaments.

I think it Jo's duty to go and defend Kiki's singles titles for her. The Gstaad trophy looks pretty cool, so I she gets it.

I would have been pretty furious with the Sith if she'd beaten JoLa and lost in the next round.

Jeremy, you should get tooth jewelry like JoLa while you're at the dentist anyway. It's obviously the key to landing a GGF.

I think the key to winning grand slam events is beating JoLa in doubles... Pavic/Dabrowski, Krejcikova/Siniakova... and now possibly the Czechs again or Spears/Rosolska, and Azarenka/Murray.

Yeah crazy match. There was enough time to play both Mixed SFs on Court 1, first one starting at 6-6 in the third. I also read Bartoli commented the first four hours on TV, went to court to play her Legends match and returned before it was over.
Anderson played almost 11 hours combined in his last two matches.

Unrelated, but I saw this today: Damturneringen på väg tillbaka till Båstad. Sounds unlikely, but maybe some hope for the WTA Bastad?

There will be no women's week in Båstad this year. But hope is that WTA tennis will be played at the centercourse again.
"At best we will have a competition here next year," says Christer Hult, Event Director.

The rest of this report is behind a paywall, it would be interesting to see if they discussed the important stuff: who would be the new main sponsor, and where would they get a new license, since they sold theirs to Moscow?

I think it's just wishful thinking at this point. The Båstad tournament was basically struggling to stay afloat for the entirety of its existence, and it sounds highly unlikely they've suddenly discovered the magic fix for it. And the location was really the root of all the problems, so I'm even more sceptical of a revival in the same location.

I also checked the other Swedish news: nothing.
