So' half -Golden SunFlower 🌻 is into the final; she was down 3:6' 4:4 *0:40' and won 3:6' 6:4' 6:2. Alex did fade a bit in the final set' perhaps due to the wasted BPs' while Lulu seemingly stayed nervous; hers were the only two holds of the final set.

She'll now face a fellow Chinese Ma Yexin' who beat (2) Talia Gibson 4:6' 7:5' 7:5 in a 2h56min epic.

A shame for Alex' as the final alone would tentatively put her at #51' but good to see Sun rise again.

I assume her team thought it would be a guaranteed 125 points that would help secure her ranking and be more than she'd likely get from Beijing.

She was getting a bit of criticism for scheduling like was a top player when she was withdrawing from lower tournaments after losing early around the clay swing. So it's harsh to criticise her. :dunno:
Although it'd make sense to still try at Beijing and then schedule herself for the lower tournaments in the second week.

This is more of a sunny interval than a full on blaze of sunshine. It is a positive sign that she can win a tournament at this level but she has been struggling on the main tour with 1r and 2r losses predominating. Maybe this tournament win could give her more momentum and confidence. Her previous high was based on a couple of streaky results.

Still not sure why Eala played this, Beijing 1000 was the last 1000 she could get in on ranking this year, so it seems a waste to miss it with so many 125s and 250s coming up, including next week's Suzhou event. Given her atrocious serving in the Tjen defeat the other week (the match point looked like she was feeding the Indonesian a ball to hit a winner rather than she was trying to serve to save a mp), I am wondering whether her confidence is not all she claims it to be.
