I read on a few message boards that Jen has pulled out of Shanghai and her shoulder might be bothering her again. I hope she is okay and perhaps she simply doesn't feel like taking such a long plane ride for a tier 2 event. Jen only added this tournament after pulling out of her match in San Diego and skipping Toronto. Maybe her strong results in New Haven and the US Open changed her mind.
I think that playing a light fall schedule is a good idea. She's 27 and needs time to rest and recover. She's played in 15 events already (she had 13 events at this point a year ago). Part of me thinks a victory in Shanghai would be good medicine and the other part of me thinks Jen needs a little break.
