I cannot believe that more people are not in this thread??

Jennifer is not my favorite and I think Venus had the better year BUT Jennifer deserves to be #1. She played the right kind of tennis that got her that top spot! I am not gonna cry and player hate on any lady from the WTA who gets to #1. They all work hard and deserve credit where it is due!

Congrats to you Jennifer!!

She EARNED that spot by playing CONSISTANT tennis throughout the 2001 season. Hingis stayed on top for many months due to other players injury so IMHO I don't think it fair to call Jen's top rank a default. Also some people write that Jennifer shouldn't be ranked #1 because she hasn't won a tourney in months. Well neither has Martina. I think Jennifer really deserves her props.
