Jen did not lose cos of her serve. She served 69% of first serves winning 58%, compared to Justine’s 46% of first serves and winning 60%. Also Jen had 5 aces to 2 doubles and Justine had 4 aces to 3 doubles.
Some may claim Justine served poorly and that Jen should’ve taken advantage of this and finished the sets off, but Jen’s game isn’t based around the serve and neither was Justine’s today so it came down to Justine beating Capriati at her own game (and without a good serve). Well done.
