Latvia def. Poland 2-1 ! :yeah:
https://www.fedcup.com/en/draws-results/tie.aspx?id=W-FC-2018-G1-EPA-D-M-POL-LAT-01

Sevastova beat Frech 6-1 6-2
Then Jelena beat Magda Linette 6-3 6-3 :)
And Marcinkevica/Vismane lost the doubles to Linette/Rosolska 1-6 0-6

Seems like Jelena needed one match to warm up
Many players say the 1st match of a tournament is the most difficult one

Good luck vs Austria tomorrow !

"I played a lot better today," Ostapenko said after her victory. "I think it's very big for our country to have two top-20 players at the same time, so if we play our best, I think we have a good chance to finish top of our group," she added.

Russia picks Khanty-Mansiysk for Latvia clash

15 Mar 2018

Russia will host its Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II play-off tie against Latvia on an indoor clay court in Khanty-Mansiysk.

Khanty-Mansiysk, located over 2,500km east of Moscow, is known for its extreme climate, with temperatures ranging from as low as -62 °c and as high as +34 °c.

The city’s Tennis Development Center will provide the setting for the first meeting between Russia and Latvia in Fed Cup, with the venue set to accommodate 3,700 fans.

Four-time champion Russia has not competed at such a low level of the competition since 1997, when it defeated Korea, Republic in the World Group II play-offs to earn promotion from Europe/Africa Zone Group I.

Latvia, through to the World Group II play-offs for the first time thanks to the emergence of Jelena Ostapenko and Anastasija Sevastova in recent years, is looking to build on its run of four straight wins at the Europe/Africa Zone Group I event in Tallinn in February and achieve a milestone promotion to World Group II.
