Jelena Dokic's new serve?

I heard that with her new coach, she has a new service motion and that it looks pretty weird (says Günthard and the other german eurosport-commentator). Has anybody seen Jelenas serve? What is strange about it?

Yes she have. Her new coach changed it., but I’m afraid Eurosport Germany isn’t the most objective source if you want judgment how good or how bad it is. Günthard works there and they obviously (over)protect him – sort of.
yeah, I know that. That's the reason why I wanted to hear about Jelenas serve from someone in here.
Plus, they didn't say that the serve was bad, they just said it looked kind of strange
it would take time of course before she could get a grip on this service motion of hers and this happened to Justine as well.

 yeah Bartoli's service motion resembles that of John McEnroe.
Speaking of serves, Iva Majoli hit 0 aces and 11 double faults yesterday! 11! Just thought I'd throw that in :)
yep she changed her service motion. she now serves half swing, with her arm already prepared when she tosses it. yes it'll take her some time to perfect it but we can already see a higher 1st serve % from her, and usually she doesn't hit a crazy amount of double faults. it does look a bit odd since not many uses the half motion
You have made me very curious about Jelena's serve; I hope they will show her on tv today.

Gutsy of her to change it during the season; I respect that. Such a big change would definitely take some adjusting to, as BasicTennis said. I hope in the long run, though, it will pay off for Jelena as it has for Justine.
The motion is peculiar as she has her arm ready to strike the ball before she even begins the toss. I don't know whether it generates a lot of power but she does get it in most of the time.
I always think that player with a decent first serve isn't 100% correct, Andy is a good example, his service motion is ugly(maybe a bit funny), but it works effectively, so i won't mind Jelena having a weird service motion, would rather see her have a accurate and fast serve.:)
stats from today's match

Winning % on 1st Serve 28 of 40 = 70%
Winning % on 2nd Serve 7 of 15 = 47%

Fastest Serve 100 MPH
Average 1st Serve Speed 94 MPH
Average 2nd Serve Speed 88 MPH

So it's not faster! That's for sure.
Well they showed a point or two from the end of her match on tv here in the US, but the camera was at the far end of the court so I couldn't see what she was doing. :(

She won, though. :)

that "new" motion is not to make the serve faster but more save!

Actually it slowes the serve down, so her speeds are quite impressive!

She lost 8 points on second serve, but 6 of them through double faults! Without them she was 7-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder with that speed. Many players dont even have 88 miles on their first serve!
Come on Jelena!!!!! You can get back to your old form and to the TOP with your new serve.
