Lost in RG girl's Q, not playing doubles :(

Hasn't played much compared to last year, in juniors or pros. Did have a SF at a G2 earlier in the clay season though.

Played a lot of Belgium 10Ks, started well, qualified in a few and beat a top 250 player in De Bernardi, made a bunch of SFs in doubles as well. Then began to lose a little form as she ventured out to other 10Ks Europe.

Just back again after a few months, got routined by Perez but made the QF of the 10K Charleston, before losing to a semi-retired but former regular top 300 player in Lauren Embree, 6-1 6-7(5) 2-6, failing to serve out the match at 6-5 in the second :( Still, a pretty good showing.

She was very funny vs Nuudi. Swearing so much whenever Maileen hit winners. She has a very basic game and basically just pushes but I think on Hard Court she would be more effective. She was lucky to win vs Nuudi.

^Sounds like a Woz-lite then :tears:

Won the NZ champs today against Paige Hourigan in the final, 5-7 6-3 6-1 :yeah: Also beat Erin Routliffe (ranked in the 600's, NZ born Canuck) in the SF 6-3 6-3 which is pretty decent as Routliffe made a 25K final in one of the few singles tournaments she has played this year. Though it was pretty windy apparently and Routliffe didn't deal well with that, so that would have helped.

Anyway, by winning the NZ champs she has won herself a QWC into Auckland in a few weeks. Not a massive deal as she would have almost certainly been given one anyway, but nice to say she won it :yeah: Hope Hourigan gets one too :awww:

Jade pushed Davis a tight three setter where she took the first set in the 1st round of Auckland qualies last year. That was indoors due to rain, so the outdoor hard should suit her game. Hope she can get a top 200 scalp at home (and a decent draw!).

Up 5-3 in the first round of the ASB Classic....against Venus Williams

Venus rolling her serve in and I'd clearly far from her best, playing so vanilla and making a few basic efforts. Jade however is fully taking this opportunity and playing with great depth and precision :cheer:

Serving for it now at *5-4 :scared:

Yeah, 500K from the seed foundation - they gave to Jones and Erakovic as well, they don't just throw $$ at any young kiwi player, must see something in her... Jade isn't having the greatest time in Europe atm in the 15Ks. Hopefully she can get her career going with some runs in the 15Ks. Such a pity she didn't get a set off Venus - I think Venus may have retired if she had :tape:

She has quit pro tennis and went back to LSU

The Seed Foundation dropped her funding in February.
