After watching her the last few months on Eurosport and then Wimbledon she seems to have totally lost the plot. After every lost point it seems she goes mad, either shouting at her coach, and she looks like she is about to cry all the time. Ive never seen anything like it from a tennis player before, I'm genuinely worried she may have a nervous breakdown or something. At Wimbledon she cried atleast twice during one of her matches I saw, not sure about the others!.

Well, there had been some jokes and teasing on the board about Vera’s being overemotional, but right now, leave all joking aside, she does need some serious help in order to learn to keep her emotions under control.

Vera is a great talent and has an amazing fighting spirit, but if she cannot find a way to keep calm and collected on the courts soon enough, I’m worried that she may not go much further to the point her fans would like to see her. She has that potential to go higher up in her career and should take urgent precautions so as not to be self-destructive any further and end up with a serious nervous breakdown.

Please just pull yourself together, take it easy and enjoy playing tennis a bit more, Vera!

No Vera isn't on the edge of a breakdown. Away from the court she seems so different than the stressed out girl we see on court. I actually made a bit of a point to see what Vera was like away from court at Wimbledon and I watched her laughing and joking during practice with Likhovtseva and Max Mirnyi and she seemed totally relaxed with a doubles match happening in a couple of hours time. I also by chance caught her leaving Wimbledon with Lex Carrington the day after she was knocked out of the singles tournament and she seemed perfectly at ease and happily signed things for people who asked.

Basically, I think she's a nice girl but just gets incredibly stressed out on the tennis court! I agree though, sometimes you do feel a bit worried for her but seeing her at Wimbledon has certainly eased my fears in that respect. I just hope she can regain some singles form soon! :yeah:

I think it was a great move pairing her with Elena Likhovtseva who is a true tennis professional and will hopefully help Vera with her on court emotions. b/c its obvious that she wants it too much

I think alot of the russians want it too much. I think alot of them in particular Vera and Nadia could do alot better if they played less. In some cases players that only play half the number of tournements they do are higher ranked than them. They all seem very obsessed with making the most money possible

And the most interesting thing is that her crying and tantrums doesn´t make her play worse on court, it´s just part of her personality and game. She´s gonna be fine, crying her way through the matches.

She may have taken a step back, but also a lot of the better players are back and playing well, Kim, Justine, Venus, Mary. It's only going to get harder for some of the second tier players, which I consider Vera to be.

I don't doubt that Vera can occasionally produce top 10 tennis. Her thrashing of the Capster late last season is evidence of that. I do doubt that she can consistently produce the tennis to be included in the top tier of women's tennis. Number 27 in the Porche race, despite playing 13 tournaments, says it all. This year, simple quantity of tournaments is not going to do it for Vera

Vera has not played well this year. And she's never had the big results of the slam winners.
But she grinds, like Nadia, and both can beat everyone outside the top 10.

Vera hasn't been doing it this year. Her results have been poor.

The girl do need some help. I would advise her to signal a pschologist instead of a trainer next time she is on court. I mean, the opponents always look like they are about to laugh or ask her what the hell is going on. I think the fans get a kick out of it too.

i watched vera play weingartner at wimbledon and to be honest, all i wanted to do was smack her in the face. she acts like a totally spoilt brat on court, seriously at 0-1 0-30 in the first set she burst into tears. Marlene had her all over the place and at every changover vera would just start bawling. if she missed a shot she was like a small child who didn't get their way, the toys came out the pram and she went bright red and threw a tantrum.

at 0-2 the first racket was smashed, because marlene hit a winner past her. she was throwing her arms into the air as if to say "whats the point", 4 minutes into the match! marlene was just looking at her with disgust. it was very disrespectful and pathetic. she doesnt deserve sypmathy for it, she aint having a breakdown of any sort, she just needs to grow up and realise you cant win every point. and when things arent going your way you dont start throwing a tantrum and burst into tears, especially at the first changeover if the first set of the first match of the tournament.

was gutted marlene didnt finish her off, vera's attitude totally stank throughout that match (sorry to her fans, but it really did)

Hey, I just got back to my house at the wimbledon. Actually i just went to the next building to check my e-mail and leave couple words here. I gotta play some doubs tomorrow vs Kuzia and Mauresmo. So when im done with this tournament Ill probably go back home for couple days, then to florida and my first tournament is probably cincinnati...It was a good tournament last year for me, so ill try to do my best this year too Thanks to all of you and take care

well if all this is true then I conclude that Vera is just mental and needs to be locked away Whatever her age, there is no reason for her to act like a spoilt diva on court as for one, who does she think she is? she isn't a top player like Maria Sharapova or Serena who could be excused for such antics so she can't get away with such behaviour on court. Further more she is just being so disrespectful to her opponents by acting like a baby on court, I would imagine they must feel really uncomfortable and akward playing against her as they know they are threading on egg shells around Vera. Umpires should give her a warning or something everytime she decides to act like a spoilt brat and that might help her. Goodness Vera, you should be ashamed of yourself, crying over a tennis match, God help her if she ever managed to reach a Wimbledon final, she'd create her own rain delay
