One thing I notice on this board is that many who are not Venus'
Serena's fans are very concerned about their way of playing tennis.
It was yesterday your socalled clay specialists played. Henin was
almost taken to three sets because that girl was leading her 5-3 and
serving for the set. Mauresmo was also in trouble with Razzano
becasue she was serving for the second set at 5-3.
And there was no thread about their play even no mention of how
low they played because Mauresmo had played three or more clay
tounaments before the french and you don't expect someone like her
with the clay court ability and preparation to have that scoreline.
6-3,7-5 by both Henin and Mauresmo and 6-2,6-4 which one is better
regardless how the other opponent played.
Some fans on this board always wish that Venus or Serena don't win
at all so that those they want to win will have the chance.

Both amelie and justine had tough opponents, but, if they had as easy opponents as venus, they would have crushed them. Like 6-0 6-1. If the situation was reversed and venus had amelie's/justine's opponents, I am afraid she would have lost.
There you go. There is your answer. There is no hypocrisy in this board. You are dreaming it.

I think to be fair to Reeves she is tough, but Henin did brush her aside with little regonition last year at the US open, so maybe the result is a suprise.

Razzano and Wartusch as players are not reflected in thier rankings. Wartusch was a key player in taking Austria to the semis of the FED Cup last year, and many believe Razzano is the future of French tennis.

I think you are dreaming in your ass hole for having Kim Clijsters as
a champion 2003 french open. She would not pass Davenport before
Venus.

people have been picking at venus and her preparation for a while now,and its no surprise that she struggled today, she always struggles in the first round of the majors, the only major i have not seen venus struggle in is her first round at the us open, other then that its a typical venus first round at a grand slam, has a horrible day and still wins with a rather comfotable scores because she wins all the key points!

DD, I am the number 1 venus fan here, if I may say so. So you can't say that I hate her. But, being objective, there is no way venus will make the second round. But, she have made me it crow before, so I am hoping for the same.

hinquit, repeat after me: clijsters - 2003 FO champion. You might as well get used to it starting now. That's what I am doing.

This is funny since any player can play anyway on any day. I guess you must be a prophet LOL.

If I were you, I would wish for Kim and Venus to meet in the semi-final
so that we will know who is the real #2 in the world.
I am wishing that Kim against Venus in the semi-final
Justine against Serena in the Semi-final.
You remember US Open 2001 and Ausopen 2003 and this one will not
be different either.

Good point hinquit, I was thinking the same thing. I am happy that Venus is through to the second round because she will only play better as the tournament progress.

As I said in a previous thread, IT WILL ALL REVEAL IN TIME. Nuff said.

It is funny how people like to compare opponents ... what tells you that Razzano or Wartush would have played as well against Venus as they played against MAuresmo and Henin? Don't you guys know by now that according to whom is across the net, a player will adjust his/her game? Because henin crushed Reeves at the USO, she would have crushed her at RG? Yeah right ... 2 totally different surfaces, 2 totally different days ... it is un-comparable!!!!!!! Maybe Mauresmo would have lost against Wartush ... maybe Henin would have lost against Razzano ... who knows? who cares?

That was a good match for Venus ... she had to work hard ... and that's what you want when you come back from a long lay-off. That keeps you in mind that you're rusty ... and will make you work even harder in the next round!

Even though it was not easy, Venus won in straight sets! Good enough for me!

Hinquit I think you are a psychotic! I just searched your post history and you haven't posted anything positive at all. All you have done is attacked among others Hingis, Capriati, Clijsters, Henin and Mauresmo all with the purpose of making Venus look better

You need to come to terms with the fact that Venus is not the best player in the world at the moment. She is not even the clear cut second best player anymore. She played an horrendous match today - 11 winners and 47 unforced errors and broken three times against a player who is not even in the top 100. People are going to be critical of a match like that from a player who was once dominant. Venus is not washed up, but it is quite legitimate for people to consider Clijsters, Henin and Mauresmo superior threats to Serena in this tournament. They have all played very well on clay this season and have actually beaten Serena in the past 18 months which venus hasn't. Venus has had a poor preparation for Roland Garros. Whilst she is good enough to win, the likelyhood is not so great this year (remember even when Venus was "dominating" she still never made much of an impact at RG). Get over it!

Btw have you ever considered that it is the pigheaded Williams fans like you who influence people to root against them?

Eh, Rob get over it and root for anyone you want. Are you that weak-spined that someone influences you that easily.
Eta you had people fooled here. I love your signature, which is what everybody seems to be prophecying anyway, so lets just wait and see, shall we? The same prophecy was made in Jan during the AO but we saw a different result. I tell you this is what makes the Williams win special

We are talking about grandslam competition and not ordinary tournament
with players getting bye. And all of those whom you mentioned to be
the superion threats to Senera have not beaten her in grandslam encounter. 2000 is just like 2003 for Venus. There were players who
beat her in 2000 who have never beaten her before. Likes of Coetzer
and Dokic and people came to the conclusion that Venus was finished
that year. But to their surprise, Venus won grandslams plus four other
tournaments.

Before the grandslam began, those of you haters began your campaign
against particular Venus because she was beaten by some unseeded
players. And so whatever she did is not enough. Even with beating her
opponent with a scoreline 6-2,6-4 is not good to make her win RG.
You must remember that Venus is not an arborigin.

I find it incredible the number threads created 'discussing' posters or fans that hate Venus and Serena. Maybe it would be better if both sets of posters stop posting all together about this matter so that it wouldn't continue.

lol at the eta psi's reverse pyschology. i hope it works for you.

~Some fans on this board always wish that Venus or Serena don't win

the same way you don't want other players to win so that those you want to win (venus and serena) will have the chance to meet in the finals. :)

I do root for anyone I want, no I don't always root against the sisters, and no I am not influenced by the extreme arrogance of their fans. I realise that it is not Venus & Serena's fault that some of their fans are fuckwits. However I can sympathise with some posters who might be so sick of the arrogance that they just want the sisters to lose so that their fans can't fill this board with further glutony. For the record, if Venus plays Kim in the semis (hopefully she will lose to jenn before that :p ) I will be cheering for her.

Hinquit, try to realise that it is Roland Garros we are talking about and not Wimbledon. If people were writing Venus off at Wimbledon I would agree with you that they are fools, but the fact that they rate a couple of other players as superior chances to her on a clay court is hardly outrageous.

Hollywood :wavey:
