I heard somewhere that the US Open is abnormally fast compared to the rest of the American hardcourt circuit, that's one of the key factors in Sampras' great record there in recent years. I know for sure that at the other end of the scale the Indian Wells courts are also ridiculously slow, which is why Hewitt has set up camp there for the past two years as champion and is going to be very hard to shift.
