I know that this will porbably end up in a bashing thread, but I don't care, I want to see what some valuable opinion about this.

Many have said that Justine and Kim is a boring rivalry, in my opinion I think it is better than the Williams sisters rivalry.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they are sisters or the fact they are Williams sisters. But the bottom line is that Venus and Serena don't actually play each other frequent enough.

There we have Kim and Justine who has played each other 6 times already, going on the 7th time this year. This is the kind of frequency of meeting between two top players since Martina -Lindsay or Martina- Venus rivalry.

We want to hear that top two players are playing against each other (even if it is one-sided, can people remmeber the little rivlary of Martina and Monica in 1997, although it is onbe-side, people still get excited about it)

So what do you think?

Although I will much relish the opportunity or possibility of a four-way rivalry in 2004. I think that this little rivalry between kim and justine is actually good for tennis in the long term.

They may not be that well knwon outside tennis circle right now, but is Steffi or Venus or Serena that well knwon until they established themselves for a couple of years?

Give them a chance and we will relish in the future

If Kim can get her act together mentally, it is a great rivalry. Look at the great match they had in Berlin!! The match on grass was looking good, too, until Justine was injured. They also had a 3-set match over the summer, but I don't know what the quality of that one was.

Kim just seems to get tight when it's a big occasion, and she doesn't seem to know how to fight out of that. If she can learn, though, they could have some really fun matches.

Add Serena and Venus into the mix, and :eek :eek :eek Women's tennis could be really exciting with these 4 tradings majors and other titles.

I actually like it when two players play each other less rather than more. If we keep seeing the same match 10 times a year it gets boring.
Right now i thikn the Kim-Justine rivalry hasnt been good as Kim hasnt played her best in their Grand Slam finals, which is what most people watch. It can be good in the future if they both play their best in the matches.

yes. good for tennis. for sure. add not only the williams to the mix but perhaps a rejuvenated Pierce next year (still too early to say but could happen), Capriati, Momo and some Russians like Myskina.
Yes, I think you're right.
And it's clear all real tennis fans
want the other topplayers (esp. V&S) to be playin' to.
I hope 2004 will be a great season.
It will be good for international interest in tennis,
and it won't harm the belgian press either!!!!!!!

Wait a minute!

People were complaining that the venus and serena were bad for tennis because they always played in the finals and it was predictable...and now they aren't good for tennis because they dont play against each other enough and justine and kim face each other more often and it is better?

and then the people who said last year that if they're favorite was dominating it would be boring as well and not good for tennis and are now saying that it is good for tennis when justine and kim are dominating...

I think the matches between them are good for the sport. A small country divided by ethnic/linguistic/cultural differences producing the 2 most elite tennis players in the world is amazing.

Plus, anytime #1 plays #2 it's amazing for the sport and the viewers. You are getting the top 2 players in the world.

Go Belgium!!

The best rivalries in recent years:::

1) venus versus hingis

2) serena vs Jen

3) justine vs venus

Now the best at present time is:

3) serena vs Justine

4) venus vs jen (which rarely happens but is high drama when it does)

justine vs kim is boring. period. the past two grandslam finals were crap and so much worse than any williams sister final. Lie to yourself if you want. The only reason the williams sisters matches get flack is because they are sisters. end of story. If they had two different last names playing the same matches they would have been perceived much differently. THe problem is that the public is still too stupid too pick between them and cheer one on rabidly. CHOOSE A FREAKING SIDE!

please dont give me that the williams sisters are not well liked thats not it. i have matches on tape where the audience VEHEMENTLY cheers for venus or serena. But when they play each other the people feel like its wrong to cheer for one over the other as if it would hurt her feelings. Its almost like a parent cheering one child and not the other. They dont want to do that.

justine and kim have no such excuse for producing their lackluster lame tired ass non watchable ugly tennis. their gs finals are pathetic. maybe tommorows match will be different. I hope so.

The belgians are only good for tennis if venus and serena come back to mix things up. At this time in womens tennis its not enough to have stale justine vs kim matches and its not enough to have serena vs venus matches if venus is going to keep losing. We need all four so we can have a belgian vs williams final in there too.

Face it jen can't beat the fabulous four, lindsay can't beat the fabulous four, momo snuck in a couple wins but she's so mentally unstable, and everyone else in the top ten may as well hit the practice courts or see a shrink.

I found Martina and Lindsay's rivalry entertaining as well.

No kidding! Maybe it was bad because..uhm,two BLACK sisters playing all the GS-finals of a white sport, umm...that can´t be good.

Now with Juju and Kim everything is back to normal: two white girls playing in the finals all the time. Yeah, that´s much much better. That isn´t boring. Specially when you get sets with 6-0 and 6-1 scores! No that´s great...plenty of drama!

Pluuuzzzz!!

I prefer the 4 way rivalry. That way the matchups always change and you get more debate over who has the edge at any given time.

I quite enjoyed their San Diego final. The third set, at least, featured some high quality tennis. Especially that 4-3 game when Clijsters was stubborn but was eventually broken.
Yeah, they have played like 8 times this year already and only had TWO good/great matches..that is too little.

If Venus and Serena played each other that often, I´m sure they would have produced a bit more than two good matches.
