That would be a huge insult to say Serena only knows how to serve.
No way. No woman who knows only to serve would win more than 10 slams on all surfaces.

I do think she might only rely on her serve... And trust me, as an UNBIASED fan (how the hell could be I biased since my fave retired IN JANUARY 2011 ), it's extremely frustrating to watch.

I am a fan of rallyes, building up points that end up on a brilliant winner, not of 5-shot-rallyes It's so anticlimatic.

How do you explain that?

I mean... I am not blaming it at all on Serena, it's the others' fault if they can't even be assed to get a good serve enough and a ROS solid enough to break Rena....

Serena used to be brilliant and amazing years ago, she was still serving like a GOAT but actually had a greater footwork. Sure she is aging, but shoudn't she struggle a bit more on serve???


Maybe serve is enough to actually win many matches on the WTA court since so many can't serve to serve their life (IE : Agnieszka Radwanska OMFG she is so ridic, poor her, she might be humiliated on Saturday maybe as much as Murray got ashamed by GOATfed) ???

She is relying on defense more than ever during rallies. It's basically about big serves and then nasty tough counterpunching in rallies. I don't like her at all but she is playing tough and why wouldn't she use her serve as a weapon?

An "all serve mug" is an extremely stupid term, as is calling someone a pushing mug etc. The point of tennis is to win the match, WHATEVER way possible.

To answer the question, if Serena had an average serve she would be extremely poor obviously, as she has trouble breaking players with horrible serves, and doesn't dominate neutral rallies like she once used to.

Again, there is nothing wrong with relying on a huge serve. It's a GREAT weapon to have.

Debby,just watch Serena matches and you will see overtime that she has worked and improved her game throughout her career. Serena held serve throughout the match??? That is what a tennis player is supposed to do. She has pretty good offense and defense. A great serve and second serve. Just a fluid motion and when its on its hard to break her. If u sit down and watch her matchesyou will see that she has good placement,power and court coverage. WHERE WERE U AT WHEN MARIA WON FO??
