This is not 100%, but I do believe Martina felt this year would be enough for her, she really does stretch herself with all the charity committments, ranging from Gay-rights, right through to Wildlife. She is very committed to her Annual trips to Africa, as well as certain political stances. I also know that she misses her Woodwork very much as well, So sadly, I think we have seen the last of her.

If I'm wrong (Praying here that I am), I also strongly believe a change of partner is needed, but Lindsay is definately not the right choice (A older woman, with a player who is a bit limited in movement is not going to work). the best combination I can think off ofhand would be Martina/Martina, but she is committed to Anna K, so my next choice for Martina N would be Monica Seles, what Martina could pass on to Monica about Doubles would be incredible, What Monica could give in return is a good serve and safe groundstrokes, because even at 45 Martina is still one of the best Volleyer's in the game <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> ....just some thoughts, sorry for rambling....

I'm sorry if anyone felt that I was doubting Lindsay as a Doubles player, as I most certainly wasn't. Lindsay has had wonderful success in doubles, but always with players that were natural beautiful movers on court. That doesn't undermine Lindsay in anyway, but with a 45 year old who is half a step slower, then Lindsay would be a hinderance, not a advantage. I really hope what you read Irma is true, because I still feel Martina has a lot to offer the game, but it does seem, by the context of what you have written that Martina/Arantxa are over.....something that I'm not terribly sad over, as I have felt that Martina has Carried Arantxa since Wimbledon and on that note, I'm running to hide.
