I think she is the best! She has something more than the others! She can mixed her game a little bit better I think! That's why I also think she can be top-5 next year IF she improves her second serve a little bit!

Off course Elena is a great player too! And she also deserve her place in the top-10 but I think that Nastya is a little bit better!

Same for the other russians! on any day they can beat anyone but they can't all mix their game like Nastya can!

What do you think?

i think it's between petrova, bovina, dementieva and myskina. however based on consistency myskina is the best followed by dementieva. but i think petrova and bovina have games that could take them to be the best if they become more consistent.

LMFAO at people calling Nastya consistent! Consistent is the last thing she is. Brilliant, streaky, flashy - yes; consistent - no. Vera Zvonareva is the only Russian who is remotely consistent, though Maria Sharapova's good for her age in that department.

She is the fastest Russian, has the best backhand, and is of the most powerful. IMO she's been the best for quite a while now, but the lack of hype compared to, say, Dementieva or Petrova and her lack of TV coverage doesn't make Nastya seem as good.

I think its great that Myskina has won this Tier I title, as its a huge step forward for Russian womens tennis.

Is she the best? I still don't think so. It does come down to her and Dementieva.

To win this Tier I, she defeated Serna, Danilidou, Pistolesi and Mauresmo INDOORS. Don't get me wrong, but this wasn't a super hard draw, especially on carpet. But she got the wins as necessary.

In my eyes, when Elena defeated Coetzer, Hantuchova, Justine and Lindsay back to back is more of a feat than the above.

Myskina has been in the 9-11 range for most of this year. Elena shot back into the Top 10 and had the chance to make No. 6 this week too.

Is Myskina consistent?? No way. Neither is Elena, but they are both getting better.

Elena has now grabbed onto her Top 10 ranking, and they may swap ranks next week, but I believe it will be Elena who surges ahead, especially when 2004 kicks in. Barring that 2nd serve, Elena has bigger weapons than Myskina, which will serve her well against the rest of the Top 10.

But good luck to both ladies!

It is indeed hard to decide between Elena and Myskina. I think when Elena is on, she is much better. Besides her good performance in the last couple of weeks, Myskina has been so lucky as well. Kim was retired, and she had a good draw in Moscow. Let's see how things go! I think next year, we will know who is better, not this year.

Yes

Six career tournament titles, with four this year, including a Tier I. No active Russian player has come close to a year like that.

i think its funny that people are calling myskina consistant.. everyone is changing their minds about her just because shes on a hot win streak right now... if you put the best myskina against the best dementieva, elena would DEF win IMO...

its the fact of pure power... and myskina lacks it on a normal day... sure she is probably the quickest of all the russians, i will give her that but the best... i do not think so

and im sticking with my opinion, even if she goes and wins the filderstat... i will however, respect her more

oh yeah and one more thing everyone is ravcing over her tier I win in moscow last week... but the feild was COMPLETLY depleted... she was seeded 4th, which usually means she should at least reach the semifinals... after capriati lost, she was instantly a finalist IMO... she had one good win over mauresmo who hadnt played in nearly two months and was rusty

No kidding! When Capriati is the top seed, that tells you all you need to know about the quality of the field. In fact she earned the FEWEST points for a tier I victory, in history!

This nothing more than taking advantage of the weak field.
About Myskina being the best of the Russians, well that ain´t that DIFFICULT to do. I mean they are nothing more than quantity, so if you can win a title here and there...you can easily be the best.
