Despite her French Open 1R loss, I think it is starting to feel that way again. Other than Radwanska, the other players in the Top 5 have not even been able to take sets off her in the past couple of years.

No doubt she will be motivated during the US hardcourt swing, especially after coming up short at last year's USO.

Well, thoughts?!

Aura? It is up to her, it looks so effortless for her to beat everyone so i dont know how the hell she managed to lose to makarova or razzano this year.

Even if she gets nervous she doesnt even need to go for the lines...

Why you hating on Serena?

Hopefully she can continue destroying the likes of Maria and Vika!
I dont understand you...

You were a Masha fan, theres proof all over this place, and now you're her biggest hater?

I guess it shows a lot about your character.

Can't wait till you get banned. :wavey:

And in reply to the OP, yeah, I do think Serena is the best right now, and as long as she keeps what she's doing up, no one will match her consistently until she retires.

It's trolling all around the place but he doesnt get banned. :spit:
And I got a nasty bad rep from our polish friend in that other thread about fan :spit:

I should really answer the question, yeah I think there is it will be a suprise when she next loses I think, who can beat her I am not sure, Maybe an inspired petrova who can do it on a good day, sharapova is too mentally weak, maybe the only other person is kim depends how much she cares though. Kim seems to have no fear of the williams, although they have not played since that match at US open.

Serena was injured at the Australian; clearly the losses to Razzano and Stosur, her only legitimate "shock" losses show that she isn't invincible. I think she needs to win back to back slams before we talk about the aura being back.

Being an Aga fan I would love her to win the US open BUT I think it will be really good thing for women's tennis if Serena went on a winning streak like Djokovic did last year. Imagine if she won all the slams in the space of year again. The publicity will be great for the sport. It would restore the reputation of the 'career grand slam'.

Sharapova could only beat Serena on a very slow HC or red clay. All others surfaces she is in trouble.
And no it's not safe to say this, it's obvious no one could stand a chance against Serena's serve on grass courts there should be a difference on HC where players return a lil better, Serena's form also need to drop for players to have a shot against her.

Let's wait until after the US Open to answer that...

In her last 2 years there Serena got at the losing side of umpire controversies that threw over the window her chances to win another US open. Especially in 09 where she was blatantly robbed in that semi final.

Yes, BUT, now she has to work on it to maintain.

This is different from the past, where she did not even have to try, it was already and always there as soon she stepped on the court.

Right now, as well she is serving, opponents (and their coaches) believe they can catch her on a bad day, and they play her firmly believing it.

That explain the Razzanos and others.

Because of I stated earlier, for Serena , there is a price to pay if she wants to maintain this aura of invincibility.
According Reannae Stubbs, for highly accomplished athletes, with age, come more anxiety.
They have this feeling that every match they play, they have to protect their legacy, that put additional pressure on them.

That is why I think it would be extremely difficult for Serena to maintain the aura invincibility.

But hey, it is Serena, nothing is impossible!!!

There is still work to be done, but I am glad she has met the top 5 so often since Miami.

It's tough for Serena, i think she feels the pressure. Knowing that her career may be over anytime. I think if she keeps rolling the way she has been and keep a wise schedule so she wouldn't be sick of tennis, she will win 90% of her matches for the rest of the year.

Razzano. Makarova. Wozniacki.

The gap between her and the field isn't as big on HC as it is on grass and that's a fact. She's the favorite obviously but that means nothing in tennis tbh.
