Who do you think should get the WC's for these tournaments?
Indian Wells and Miami will give out 8 WC's. How many do Ponte Vedra Beach and Charleston give out?
Anyways, I say:
IW:
1-Vania King
2-Shenay Perry
3-Alexa Glatch
4-Jamea Jackson
5-Melanie Oudin
6-Madison Brengle
7-Meghann Shaughnessy
8-International Player (e.g.Karatancheva, Dokic, Krajicek, Daniilidou, U.Radwanska, etc.)
Miami:
1-Ahsha Rolle
2-Mashona Washington
3-Varvara Lepchenko
4-Lilia Osterloh
5-Lauren Albanese
6-Julie Ditty
7-Angela Haynes
8-International Player
*I forgot Carly Gullickson
Indian Wells Qualifying:
1-Kristie Ahn
2-Gail Brodsky
3-Lauren Ebree
4-Christina McHale
5-Alexis Prousis
6-International Player

Miami Qualifying:
1-Coco Vandeweghe
2-Kimberly Couts
3-Megan Moulton-Levy
4-Amanda Fink
5-Abigail Spears
6-International Player

I think this is quite fair. I'm not sure if Ditty would get MD DA, but probably not. I think Stevenson getting one in Memphis was enough for now. Maybe Charleston/Ponte Vedra Beach, but we should wait a little longer before we pick those WC's. What about Granville, and Tu? Are they ever coming back? I also think maybe Q WC's for players like Brodsky, Litvak, Mueller, Ruckert, Ch. Gullickson, etc.

5-Lauren Albanese
6-Megan Moulton-Levy (Assuming Julie gets into the MD directly).

I put Ditty there and took out Ca. Gullickson, because I didn't know what would happen with Ditty. Then, I got lazy so I just put Gullickson on the side. It will be very interesting to see who the USTA picks. I like the whole Glatch/Oudin/Albanese/Brengle etc. generation a lot.

I agree. Not to be harsh, but it's time to give the new generation of girls a chance. I don't think they should use up a wild card at either of these tournaments to Mashona Washington. I don't know if they'll give one to JAckson. She has been MIA since 2006. She barely played in 2007 or 2008. She disappeared again after the 2008 USopen. Who even knows what state she's in. Is she fit? Injured? Has she been practicing? I wouldn't be surprised if they gave a wild card to a younger player.

Oh, we forgot Asia Muhammed! She should get a MDWC to one of these and a qualifying WC to the other.

I pretty much agree with most of Hellas' picks! Although, i must let people know that Miami pretty
much only gives WCs out to IMG clients. CoCo Vandeweghe is one of their clients. So, she will definitely recieve an MD WC ;):bounce: .
I would LOVE to see Lilia recieve an MD WC for any of the tourneys, but i feel they will give the chance to a younger player. However, i think Laura might recieve one because #1 she is younger and #2 she has proven to be a stronger player over her career :p. Lilia should still get into IW and Miami with her Special Ranking :bounce:.
I think TU has retired:sad:.

Also, for those who don't know what IMG does for players. Here is a brief description...

Over 40 years ago, IMG revolutionized client management and established it as a business discipline and powerful marketing tool. Today, we help hundreds of elite athletes, coaches, industry executives and prestigious sports organizations maximize their earnings potential and build strong personal brands. We specialize in nearly every aspect of career development - from contract negotiations to licensing and endorsements and broadcasting opportunities. Through our joint venture, Ari Fleischer Sports Communications, we also offer a diverse range of media-related services to help our clients leverage the power of positive publicity. IMG's long-term approach to comprehensive career management can lead to enduring commercial and philanthropic success.

For a player like CoCo, they help fund her tennis career ( travel, clothing, coaching etc ) aswell
as negotiate contracts ( endorsements etc ), WCs for tourneys and expos like the one she played in Hong Kong with Venus and Dulko at the begining of the year =)

Also, I think they either OWN the Miami tourney or they are a MAJOR sponsor of the tourney :D:bounce:

Thanks for the information on Miami! I didn't know really how their wild card system works. Good to know that Coco has a good chance at a wildcard then. :D

I don't know much about Riske. Anyone care to enlighten me? Haha, hellas I posted this before I saw you ask the same thing.

I didn't get a chance to stick around and watch the final, but I was competing in the same event that they were and saw both of them play. Kristie was just too inconsistent, she was even taken to 64 in a set by an 8th grader - she just didn't play well all weekend and seemed to be troubled by some kind of injury either in her calf or ankle in her last couple of matches.

I don't know too much about Riske, I just remember reading her name a lot a couple years ago, especially after she beat Cirstea in US Open qualies.

Yes. We need to focus on the juniors, but what about 'old' players trying to climb back up the ranks. We have:
Craybas, Ditty, Spears, Shaughnessy, Stevenson, Washington, Osterloh, Granville?
Then, the semi-youngsters:
Rolle, Haynes, Jackson, Perry, Lepchenko, Carly Gullickson
And the youngsters:
Oudin, Brengle, Vandeweghe, Glatch, Albanese, Embree, etc.

And finally, don't leave out Vania King. She's still quite young. We just need to get more players in the top 100 ASAP!!!! Hopefully, Harkleroad will return. We're so desperate now:help:

I say give wild cards to the semi-youngsters and youngsters. Sorry, but the only older players that would deserve a wild card would be Craybas, Spears, and Granville. Possibly Ditty or Stevenson too, but in my opinion that's questionable.

Good, Glatch seems to get snubbed when it comes to wild cards I'm glad she got one.
Vania deserves one too. It seems she's getting her act together.
Where did you guys get this info from?
Any news about QWCs?
