So the rumours are true: Jennifer, Venus and Serena are all skipping the tournament. This really makes it a weak field for the 6th largest tournament of the year:eek:

I believe that Jennifer may still play as a warm up for the Ericsson.
VENUS and SERENA may not play at this venue for a couple of years, if ever.

Not so fast, Monica_Rules! Dementieva seens to do quite well on Deco Turf, as does Clijsters. Seles is certainly capable of beating them, but not easily, as you say.

BTW: How did Monica do against Hingis at the Ericsson in 2000? :p

It's a great chance for Martina to win this, and hopefully Anna can get a good run going as well, there's a lot of points available for her, to get that ranking up again!!

Good luck girls!! :bounce:

Five of the top ten players is more like a Tier II than a Tier I. No #1, #2 or #3 is more like a Tier III. The top four ranked Americans not playing in an American Tier I is just ....

I didn't expect Venus or Serena to show up. I certainly wouldn't have. Lindsay probably would have been hear if not injured. Jenn, I guess the schedule didn't work out. But I'll tell you right now we won't see much of this tournament on TV in the States, not with both Williams, Davenport and Capriati all out. That sucks because Hingis, Clijsters, Henin, Dokic and Seles is a hell of a lineup.
