Imagine 12 months ago, after Serena and Venus had just contested their third straight grandslam final, if someone had said - this time next year Kima and Justine will be ranked #1 and #2? they would have been put in a straightjacket!

However it will be even stranger to know that the players ranked world #1 and #2 are actually the 3rd and fourth best players in the world :lol:

Justine this year: 6 titles (Dubai, Charleston, Berlin, FRENCH OPEN, San Diego, Toronto)

Kim this year: 6 titles (Sydney, Indian Wells, Rome, Hertogenbosch, Stanford, Los Angeles)

Venus this year: 1 title (Antwerp)

How can anyone with a brain say that Venus is #2.

Can I ask you a question?

Who gives a crap how many tournaments Venus needed to make 2 Slam Finals? How many SLAMS did it take? 3, same as Kim and Justine. Kim lags a bit with one Final, Justine has a Slam, which Venus would probably prefer to 2 Finals.

Maybe you think Venus at her best is better than Kim or Justine at their best. But Venus this year is not as good as Kim or Justine this year. That is obvious.

If Venus had played more tourneys this year, then she probably would deserve to be #1 or 2. As she is injured, she can't. It's not her fault, but then it's not Kim and Justine's fault that Venus is injured and can't play either! Lots of players get injured - they drop in the rankings. Venus is where she should be at the moment because she has hardly played. That's just the way it is!

amazing what a difference a few more years on the tour can make
even more amazing is how rankings are solely dependent on the results of the last 52 weeks.

Actually, what nobody dares to mention is that Amelie is by far the best player on tour this year. Yeah I know she lost early at RG but that was 9000 notches below her best level and obviously her injury hadn't fully healed (it was bad enough that she had to drop out of the next tournament--Imagine that, she beat Serena at Rome despite being injured ). If she hadn't been hobbled by injury all year, she'd have easily bagged the Aus Open and Wimbledon and had a bagful of titles to shame the likes of the current top 4. Kim is praying that Amelie is still injured, because the thought of meeting her in the quarters of the US Open has got her shaking in her Filas.

No, V&S fans are hard on Kim and Justine for the same reason they were hard on Capriati, Davenport, and Hingis. Because they don't want tennis, don't want competition, just want to be able to say "mine are the best" until the end of time. Of course, this only refers to the Williams fans who have made a career out of shitting on all these players. Other Williams fans are simply normal tennis fans.

It's a mere generalization of yours right? and you're probly right.
But don't think every Williams fan is like that. I'm a die-hard Williams fan myself but don't show off or whether the sistaz are dominating or not, I just support them and don't put down or bash other players. I think that's the best way a fan of a player should be.
