I wonder what effect the restrictions on flights from South Africa will have on the planned exhibition.
Definitely looking uncertain at the moment.
If it doesn't go ahead she may be more likely to play the Czech vs Poland exhibition 10-11 Dec.
They were actually tweet advertising it today using a poster including her,
But her team said previously she wasn't playing so who knows :dunno:

Is anything certain in these sad times? :(

At this rate I won’t be surprised if they cancel the AO…

Hopefully the Omicron fuss will have all blown over well before then.
They can't be jumping at shadows every time a new variant is identified.
The mutations happen so regularly and will almost certainly be less deadly IMO.
The first doctor reports even say “Their symptoms were so different and so mild from those I had treated before”

If this is the case (milder symptoms resembling more of the common cold) then this could be actually good news with this variant pushing out and prevailing over the more deadly ones…

Let's hope it's true that 'omicron' is mild, but I'd wait for confirmation from other clinics. South Africa is now so desperate to persuade the world that this "south african" virus is actually a minor concern.

Hopefully it won't take too long to confirm, if it is mild.
I can't see how they can have a lot of restrictions every time there is a new variant, that is not obviously more deadly, because they occur so often.
Anyway I hope it doesn't affect pre AO training plans.
I notice a lot of top players are in warmer climates, which I think will help them acclimatize and cope with January Melbourne heat.
For example Raducanu is going to the Middle east to train including Christmas,
Barty - Brisbane,
Sabalenka moved to Florida
Muguruza - Caribbean.

Just thought I'd do an english translation of some of her answers to the Asics interview.
She is flying to Australia the day after Christmas 26th.

Thanks for this recap, I didn’t have time to watch it myself.

I specially liked that Iga starts now a 4-week training block with few distractions. 🤞

Oh, and vinyl records for a Christmas gift is a sign of good taste, I believe.

I wonder whether she will stay at, or near home during the training block, I think that would be best for maximum recuperation and rest, though not acclimatizing to heat.
Iga's IG showed a Taylor Swift song from her latest record (Red (Taylor's Version) - "All Too Well") which has just been released as a 4xLP vinyl set, so I bet she will get the vinyl version of that.
(It has to be played at 45rpm though, and apparently lots of Swifties have been playing it at the standard 33rpm and complaining it sounds terrible)
Actually, I think she will get a large collection of vinyl LP xmas presents now.
