Guys, do you have any RELIABLE info (players/ coaches/ commentators) about how the courts in Melbourne play (speed/ bounce)?

Speed is probably similar to US Open (i assume it is a little bit slower) and bounce is clearly much higher.
But weather is important too.

Balls are normal so that's good :)
Supposedly it’s going to be hot there when the tournament starts. I think Iga will handle the heat better than the rest of the players.
It will also matter if Iga plays in day or night conditions during the first week.
One thing I pray for is NO RAIN and NO INDOORS. Indoor conditions is when Iga is the most vulnerable. Last year she lost to Collins under the roof, same vs Pegula in Sydney. The rest - she will handle just fine IMO.

Last year you said Iga lost because she was exhausted from the three-hour battle against Kanepi in the heat the day before. I'm fairly sure the indoor conditions at AO had little to do with Iga's loss against Collins. Same when she lost to Jessie at UC.
I think it was a combination of factors. Definitely heat + fatigue + little time to rest played huge role. But indoors added to the equation IMO. Indoors makes the ball travel faster and bounce lower - perfect for Collins' aggressive ROS game.

It's likely Iga would have also lost if this match was played outdoors but maybe the scoreline would have been closer.

Anyway, I think it's rather obvious indoors is not Iga's preferred playing conditions.

As for fatigue/ little time to rest I hope the situation from last year will not happen again because Iga, as world no1 and the top seed, shouldn't get unfavourable scheduling.

Serve looked pretty bad in that Keys practise.

And it also did when she practiced with Kontaveit (?) before USO. I would wait until she plays R1 & R2 to draw any conclusions.
Yes, of course. It's too early to ring the alarm bells. Although it might be a good idea to lower our expectations. 😂

Labeling people as "trolls" is very easy in to-day's internet, I have noticed. In numerous internet communities anyone not in line with the majority risks being deemed a "troll". "Trolling" as well as "hate speech" are notions that have become Wunderwaffe of modern censorship and justification of censoring attitudes that have become so common in the Western world. A rather worrying phenomenon to me.
While I agree with your general sentiment some of the posters here on TF are truly of no value at all. Not only hateful but without any insight, unfunny and repetitive. And I currently don't have anyone on ignore either. Just simply when I see a certain username I skip their posts.

And movement 🙂
IMO:
1. FH
2. ROS
3. Movement

But BH also world class.

Surprised Iga mentioned 2nd serve. Sure it’s not a bad shot but it could be so much better. Hopefully she keeps working on it.

I’m just watching Rafa’s AO press conference and he said the court was more or less similar to last year, but the balls were of worse quality. He said the ball didn’t get as much spin and after a couple of hits it lost the pressure and it was difficult to hit with more spin, but easier to hit flatter shots.
This isn't good news unfortunately.

If you think her FH is better than her BH you should change the sport you watch because you don't understand anything
Her FH is a mine of points for opponents
Sakkari destroyed Iga in QF in RG playing on her FH
Because of FH Iga is not able to feel confident on the grass
Onnly wen Iga is in high Form and have better timing and Her FH start working but wen her shape is bit lower Errors come
Her BH is bay far her best shot.
The discussion on this subject is simply ridiculous, knowing that Iga herself said it at the Conference, moreover, not for the first time
Yes, indeed - you don’t understand anything about this game so maybe try pickleball? @Perun explained it well so not gonna waste my time repeating it, after all you are a guy who claimed he could „measure” Iga’s menstrual cycle - let that sink in before people engage with you in any pointless discussion.

Just listened to an interview with Magda Linette who said the surface should help her in R1 match vs Sherif because it's fast and low bouncing.

I'm curious on what court Magda was practicing because I have seen somwhere on twitter that RLA is slower than other courts and I think Iga said that at USO it was faster. But honestly imo every player seems to have different perception of conditions. And anyway she already showed that she's capable of adjusting, even when conditions aren't favorable.
Yes, absolutely. I also think the courts speed/ bounce will depend not just on the arena but temperate, humidity and hour they play - so there might be huge differences.

Watching Kaja Muchova today, I think she Has much of a chance to beat DRC. This 4R matchup would be even more exciting to me than Collins one. :)
Kaja's peak is pretty high and let's not forget she's a former SF-list here.

But, first things first - let's focus on Niemeier.

Yeah, I think the pressure Iga feels is much more visible than in 2022 - not sure why now exactly but it is palpable.

Having watched her today's match I think it's going to be extremely tough to make it deep here.

The test would be match with Rybakina and then with Pegula, but it possible that it also could be with Muchova. Anyway, hard draw for Iga, but she need to challenge all these expectations she got.
Andreescu in R3 will be the first serious challenge. Bianca can play a stinker but she's also capable of beating practically anyone if she peaks.

I think Bencic is still underrated, should be at the level of Sabalenka/Pegula.

I agree Coco's odds are too short.
