If you could be any player for one day, who would you be? Please list the player's name and the reasons you picked him or her.

For myself, I pick Gabriela Sabitini and PAtrick Rafter. I pick Gabby of her style and grace on and off the court. While many people claim that Gabby never fulfilled her potential, I think she did the best she could against tough competition. I pcik Pat because of his incredible attitude. Even after Pat loses a tough match, he always gives credit to his opponents. It will be a shame next year if Pat does retire.

Well, those are my two picks, so now let me see yours!

I'd probably like to be Steffi. I'd be interested to know how her mind works (so mentally strong..and also figure out what the heck she was thinking in her mind when she hooked up with Andre )

Yes, you guys can pick any player, past and present and any circumstances that you would like to be in. ( I hope this makes sense.)

I would be Evonne Goolagong and Bjorn Borg winning Wimbledon in 1980 (the greatest Wimbledon, or tourney for that matter, in my book!).

Evonne was so graceful and serene. She had every shot in the book, and then some, but very little mental resolve. Bjorn was just so physically gifted and mental superior.

I miss them both.

Nobody. I like who I am very much. We don't know enough about people to want to be them. I might like to have some of the things they have, but if it took me being them to get them I'd say no thanks.

As for landing the men thing I think Venus and Serena would have a good chunk of that. Did you hear how many celebrities, black and white, said they thought Venus was beautiful, especially in person? And every guy I know that has seen Serena comments on her body. They would definetly get their fair share.

Venus, Serena or Kournikova. Venus and Serena cause I'd like to experience what it is like to be great champions and being a minority at the same time. And I'd like to be Kournikova just to see how it feels like to be so beautiful!

Arthur Ashe

He personifies what imho a good human being should be. Also he was one of the greatest tennis PLAYERS ever. Very elegant around the court very classy indeed! He also has done alot of great deeds for less fortuanate people. I love to see him beating Connors at Wimby. He imho taught Connors a lesson. (act graceful on court and polite and respect your opponent and NEVER underestimate em or smirk ) I love to see Ashe meditating and staying so calm through out that match.
Why I would want to come back ? Well to see the world and the family. To see how the tennis world has evolved to see my statue. To give to the people some knowledgeable words that may/will inspire someone to follow my footsteps.

I miss you Arthur Ashe, although my mouse pad has your face on it so I see you everyday

Serena Williams - I'd be the best built, fastest, most athletically gifted woman on the tour. BUt 50 million megawatt smile. The match would be the Sanex QF vs Henin. From a tactical execution perspective, the best match I ever saw her play.

Arthur Ashe winning the 1968 USOPen.

In 1968, the USOpen was held at the West SIde Tennis, which had a very public policy of excluding Blacks, a stance the USTA very much supported. But by tradition, the winner of the USOPen automatically became a member. Til Arthur Ashe won the USOpen.

This is what eventually led to the US Open moving from the West Side Tennis club, after several VERY contentious years. Given a choice (Of course they shouldn't have HAD a choice) between ending their white supremacist policies or losing the tournament, they chose to give up the tournament.

I cannot describe how happy I was to see that group of bigoted assholes lose the USOpen.
