Will Venus thus regain her #2 ranking? If Kim loses in round 1 thru 3 and Justine Henin makes semi or Final or wins will she be ranked #2 or #3?

Kim only made the second round last year, so every round past that will add to her points. Venus will have to win the title to reclaim #2.

Justine is too far back to catch Kim but could catch Venus.

Actually, I'm wrong. Kim won't lose any points because her result from last year is so low that it doesn't even count to her ranking. So she won't start gaining points until her result this year passes 88 points or so...but still, Venus would have to win the title.

And it is theoretically possible for Justine to catch Kim, but she'd have to win the title and beat a boatload of top players. Venus she can definitely catch.

Kim is in little to no danger of dropping at all.

Hurley u didn't even know Kim made third round for shame on u.;) So Vee has to win RG to get her #2 rank back? Or rather Venus has to start play get #2 rank back.

Even when Clijsters would lose in one of the first 3 rounds, it's likely Kim would get her nr2 back at 's Hertogenbosch. UNLESS Venus starts playing warmups...

If Venus wins RG and Kim goes out early, V would stay #2 untill atleast after Wimbledon

Venus only got 650 some odd pts last year and theres a max of 1050 or so

Venus MUST WIN to have a shot...and depending on Kim, it may not be enough.

Kim will lose NO POINTS at Roland Garros. The worst she can do is maintain her total.

So Venus starts RG about 900 points behind Kim and therefore MUST win the title to get back to #2. And if Kim makes QF or SF, it will be IMPOSSIBLE.

Looks its unlikly Kim is going to go out before the third round, unless she plays crap, and gets a mystery virus etc.

not neccesarily
if she draws Svetlana Kuznetsova she could go out

She bagled her, and thats when she was playing well
and if she's a little off, and her opponent is playing well, why not?

whats with all the CAPITALIZATION?
we GET the point, you dont have to EMPHASIZE
:p
Because some people aren't GETTING the POINT. :p

Kim could go out in round 1...her ranking points won't change. Venus will still have to win the title.

Ignore Kim, it's all up to Venus...unless Kim makes QF or so and then give up hope. ;)

Well Venus could go out in the first round.
If she draws Barbara Schett she could go out.

theoretical max is higher.

But Kim still plays 's Hertogenbosch, so it might very well be she'd regain her #2 before Wimbledon...

Barbara aint beatin Venus again, take that to the bank!

And NO Kim WONT get back to #2 if she were to win in Holland

If Venus wins RG, she'll have around 4900 points, lets say Kim loses 3rd round again, she'll stay at 4700 whatever, if she wins in Holland, she can only gain 250 or so ponts as its a tier 3, also she would only start adding points around the QF, so it wont happen!

She wouldn't get it back untill Wimbledon, but with her record there, and since the Queen will win it :)D ) she wouldn't get it back untill summer

Well Sveta wont be beating Kim again! That was over a year ago, the Kim that plays now, isn't the same Kim which played then.

So are neither Kims results from French Open or s'Hsejgoshgosgbosch recorded in her 18 tour total?
