I think way back in 1994-1996, Sabine Hack surprised the world by becoming top15 material by just being a one surface (clay) specialist and she did that by beating players like Maleeva, Fernandez, Sanchez, Martinez and stuff.

When she got injured and nobody understood why she lost to a number of players she would have beaten with ease normally, she disappeared silently.

Even months before that (and after she won against Conchita in 1-2 matches the year before) she lost to Martinez 0-6 0-6 in the French Open and that kind of broke her neck as she was regarded as having a chance against lazy Conchi and what happened was a total desaster on her favourite surface in her favourite GS.

Hack was a "worker" on the court with brilliant legs in spite of a lack of power tennis. A role she shared with Babsi Rittner who now is still on the tour. With so many clay events of minor importance the next 2-3 weeks, I kind of miss her around and showing that clay court tennis is ALIVE in Germany.

Huber-wise, I kind of miss the main draw competitor in the forthcoming indoor season that could play an important role in Leipzig and Filderstadt. It´s sad that the organizers are forced to give Germans a WC and that this WC won´t even allow them dreaming of quarterfinals or whatever. Both Hack and Huber ON THEIR SURFACES were really great for German tennis as both fulfilled their ambitions during that part of a season and we had some headlines apart from Graf that put some Germans in the later rounds of tier I/II events.

Sabine and Anke, you´re missed ! Where are you now ? Any news ???

Missing Sabine, too. She is married with her former coach, should have her second baby by now, and lives in U.S.A. (forgot the city name, near NYC anyway).
I tried to prepare an interview with her via e-Mail for a German magazine, but she didn't like the idea.

yes, SABINE was great! i always enjoyed watching her on court. she was also a great team-player and fed cup-winner with germany! and she has also wins over HUBER, SPIRLEA, AUSTIN, RUBIN (61 60)... but don't forget that she also won a hardcourt-tournament (jakarta '95)! :)

She won that hardcourt event against Spirlea, right. And she did quite well in her best year in a fall Tokyo event where she lost to Sanchez.

I think the city in the US starts with a "S" but I´ve lost the name. Her coach also starts with a "S". I think she´s a tennis trainer. It´s interesting though that you tried to get her for an interview.

I´d love to know what she does now and why she didn´t make it and what her injury exactly was. She had desastrous results in 1996/1997 against no-name-players and I was such a HUGE fan of her legs that I´ve no idea what happened. Nowadays, she would be in the Rittner-region of the rankings and no top30 material in the years of power tennis, but she was a sexy girl with sexy legs (and that do I say who likes men more ;))
