But if she continues to waste her talent away I am just not sure I can stomach her losses anymore.

It's enough I have to read the crap that people say about her, not that other players don't get around here too, but to watch her lose the way she does well it's just depressing.

So from now on I am just gonna silently cheer for her and pray something snaps in her head and she finally realizes she has got what it takes to be a Champion and that she needs help to get to that point.

Good luck to you the rest of the way Alex, but I hope you start smelling the roses or coffee or whatever soon.........

I've always liked Alexandra, and that won't change yet.
I hope she can do well at Wimbledon, which is her favorite surface!

She needs to hire davenports old coach because he whipped lindsay into grandslam shape when she was nothing but a tall big mess.

I agree with this 100%. Alex is, what, 22 or 23 years old, but she acts and speaks like a 12 year old, always trying to be cutesy. Alex, ugh! You are too old to get away with cutesy! Her mother has such a strong hold over her, she has no clue that she is suffering from a bad case of arrested development.

I don't totally dislike Alex. I respected the way she slowly made her way up the ranks by playing in qualies all over Europe right after 9/11. If she ever busts out of her childish personna, she may become a decent adult. As an adult, she would then take over responsibility for her own career and dismiss her Mom from that role -- it's not impossible; Anna Kournikova did it, and she had an intense Mom-coach, too.
But I'm not holding my breath. Alex seems too happy in her child-woman personna.

If you knew anything about her career, you'd know that Robert was her coach even when she was a "tall big mess". The impetus for change came from Lindsay herself.

Remember what Jennifer came back from and how long it took her. There's lots of hope for Alex.
Jennifer was much different. She was a solid top tenner when she left the game, and had been for a few years. alex has never ever shown those type of results. Honestly, she hit the top twenty last year, but I don't see that much reason why she should be better than that. Yeah, I get it, she has a big serve and can hit the ball hard. Just not in the court. She's apparently an "athlete", but she seems slower than mud to me. She's a good player when everything works right, but i don't know if you can say she's wasting her talent at this stage. She made a big jump last year, might be the best she can do.

I think Janie is right that Alex’s problem is immaturity, both on and off the court. She often seems more interested in being a tennis star than in fully developing her talent. I think that run she had at Wimbledon, in retrospect, did not help her at all. It gave her and her mother a false sense of where she was with her game. I understand that the Wimbledon run convinced them that Alex should turn pro and abandon the idea of playing college tennis.

I don’t usually think that playing college tennis is much help in developing a pro-player, but in Alex’s case, I think a couple of years on a college team would have helped her a lot in terms of maturity. (She should have enrolled in an east coast college and left Mom is Southern California.)

In any case, she needs to do something quickly. Alex will be 23 this year and there are already players 5,6,7 years younger than her starting to make a name for themselves on the tour.
