Tornado's younger sister won last week's G4 in Barbados and this week's G4 in Trinidad, all with the loss of just one set.

In the opening round last week she drew the #2 seed and beat her comfortably (62 63).
In R1 this week she drew the #1 seed (#222) and destroyed her (61 61).

Looks like this girl is going places. Last week she was ranked #1071, this week #639 and next week ~#450.

And she only just turned 14 last month :eek:

Re: Hurricane Tyla Black

--> player forums :lol:

Just kidding, Good weeks of course (in weak tournaments), but still quite behind Anastasia Potapova for instance. :)

Re: Hurricane Tyla Black

I remember Jade Curtis winning this string of tournaments in the Caribbean some years ago and she never really made it anywhere. As impressive as Tornado may be these are really weak tournaments and I don't think they have an impact on measuring her potential.

As the poster above me said Potapova is still the most impressive 2001 girl by far.

Up 210 spots this week, from 639 to 429. (That's up 642 spots in two weeks.)

Now behind Potapova by 36 ranking points and 118 spots (Potapova is at 321). That said, Potapova has played tougher events and beaten tougher opponents.

It's odd to compare her to Potapova!
On July, Hurricane was playing in Bahamas while Potapova was playing in Wimbledon!

Not sure if it's such a great idea for this 14-year-old to be playing the 18s all the time. She's seeded #3 in Eddie Herr qualies, but lost her first match. Why not play the 16s? She didn't fare too well at the Mexican events, either, though she was in the main draw in those, and lost to tough opponents. Is this the best way to work on your game at this young age? :shrug:
