the defending champs are

Oz Open-Jennifer Capriati
French Open-Jennifer Capriati
Wimbledon-Venus Williams
U.S. Open-Venus Williams

Becuase they are defending champs who do you think they will fair?

I don't think Jennifer will repeat at Oz or the French. I do feel that Venus will three-peat at both her slams and maybe add another slam or two to her collection.

I don't think Jen will repeat either, but her best chance will be in Oz.
As for Vee, I think she will repeat 1, and win another *new* slam.

I realy think none of the slams would be defended, though I would see Venus giving her all and into the finals of WB and semis of US.

I think V will repeat at Wimby, but the rest are up for grabs.

I don't think Jennifer will defend. Just a feeling. I think Venus will defend her Wimbledon crown, and win one of the other 3. I'm not sure about the Open. She could repeat there too. She didn't drop a set this year, and looked as if she didn't even play her best.

Venus is just too tough on grass. That's the only sure thing of repeating imo.

I'm not sure. It is so difficult to predict. But I think Jen's best chance is Oz. She will be fresh and can handle the hot, humid temperature the best. I think Venus will get at least one of her two, but it's no guarantee. There are too many great players that could get any of these really. But I do think Venus and Jen will each win at least one slam again...and the other 2 will be someone new.

Jennifer's best chance of a repeat will be Oz, but I don't think she'll do it. I'd rather bet on her to win one of the other 2, more likely US (there's really no reason for her not to, 'cept for Venus, Serena, Lindsay.... ). I don't see why Jen can't go at least one better at Wimbledon either. That's where my smarter money would be on her.

Venus will get just one slam next year.

If Venus "3-peats" her back-to-back Wimbledon/US thing, I'll take my ball and go home, because it will mean that every year for three years the competition has gotten stronger, and yet three years straight that collectively the rest haven't been good enough to stop during this period. If she does it, she's bagged that Hall of Fame place for sure.

I think Venus will win 2 slams next year...She'll probably win the same 2 slams again... though I hope she could win a new slam...

It will be easier to answer by revealing who'll win the Slams

Australian Open - Serena (if not, Venus)
French Open - anyone's guess
Wimbledon and US Open - Venus

So, Venus will and Jennifer maybe one for two.

I look for Jennifer to win the French again and Venus to take Wimbledon. As for the AO and US, Mary pierce and Serena Williams of course!

Really WHO KNOWS, but it is fun to wonder. 6 weeks is such a long time away.
