Ummmm, i don't know the calculations, but it is A LOT!!

Champion: Moscow, Filderstadt and Chase, with some finalist appearances too.

I think it's near impossible for her to maintain #1.

Thanks MartinaFan for posting the stats.

I have to say that so far, the Willies, Davenport,Capriati, and even Monica are making it much easier for Martina to keep the #1 rank this fall. Of course Martina deserves credit too despite her less than stellar results this year.

This is so weird, they are taking filderstadt off this week, meaning for a short time Martina will be holding points for 2 kremlin cups...2000 and 2001.

The good news is, if she wins Moscow she will begin her campaign with a rise in points..(At this stage at least 340).

That's because the Filderstadt tourney was played before Kremlin last year. But this year, the WTA tournaments schedule changed a lot.

It's pretty clear that Martina won't finish this year as No.1.

Martina might end the year as number 1 if she wins all the upcoming events (with the system of quality points).
IF...
And IF I was a girl I might be a WTA Star...

Nothing to do but hoping and praying if you have religion (unfortunately, I don't have).

Not such a big deal (like says Marti) and the positive side is that with all her points lost this year, all the titles she'll win in 2002 will be bonuses. I do believe that if she loses the #1 spot, she will take it back very soon and hold it for months. When she retires, I bet she will break the record of weeks on that throne.

Hi quasimodo

Yeah, I agree with you that if Martina loses her No.1 spot, she'll take it back very soon and keep it for months. Martina doesn't really have much to defend from February next year.

Martina can finish this year as No.1 if she wins all the rest tourneys AND Capriati exits as early as possible. But that's very unlikely.

Anyway 'right now' all I want for Martina to do is to win a title, not to keep the No.1 ranking.

Good luck Martina!

yea...i dun really care if she stays number one...but she can always do even poorly next year so she doesn't have any points to defned in 2003...tho ...that is very far from now...
since i do have a religion
i shall pray for her
