She wouldn't comeback if she can't compete w/the best, and unless she's undergone some retooling of her serve, and had a major boost in her confidence, she can no longer be a serious threat.

Soon. My estimate is probably AO 2005.. By then Williams dominance will be history and Hingis will be back in business.

Finite or infinite amount of years?
I wish she would come back so she can compete with today's field. Alot of players want to compete against her, but since she cannot be immediately top 3 she doesn't want to play. It's sad.

Martina H. I don;t know if she'll play again - she could probably play doubles but maybe that wouldn't be incentive enough even though she'd still win every second thing!

Martina N. - I think the question is, will she ever finally retire! not that I'm complaining, I love that gal to bits!

Hingis will be back, when...!!!

 ...in all likelihood, Hingis will return, when the "cows" drive up in their "lil red corvette"...!!!

:) Actually, though, the longer she stays away, the harder the decision to return. The tour is not getting any "easier", and the players are continuing to "improve" day by day. As far as the "mental aspect" is concerned, that too, becomes more difficult with time. But, again, one can always have "hope"!!!

It would not surprise me if Martina Hingis does return when she is physically 100%. She surely must be sitting back and thinking, "There is not one player I cannot beat on a regular basis". I certainly think she would be back in the top 10 in 5-8 tournaments and at least back in the top 3 after 10-15.

If Jelena dokic can be top 10 after 15 or so wins from 12 tournaments this year, well you do the math :)

I reckon she'll come back and play a bit of doubles, possibly next year. I haveheard that Anna has been trying to persuade her to play Wimbledon this year but that's a bit too soon for the injury to heal I think. Hopefully she'll be back though after the Williams go too.

I would not be surprised if she turns up as a guest commentator either.

While Martina's appearance at the RG is only an obligation to her sponsor Adidas, hopefully she will get interviewed about her current status re: her injury and her decision to retire officially..either way it will be nice to see her again :hearts:

What angers me a little bit is that in the last few years, Monica started scoring some wins against Martina and improving her record. In fact, after the US Open, I felt that Monica would win most of their matches, Hingis had lost her ways. But of course Martina had to retire. I guess Martina had the honor to play against Monica in her worst years such as 1997 and 1999, but Monica won't have the honor to play Martina in her worst years and improve that head-to-head.
