It would be hella dope if she won IW 20 years after her first title here. And I need her to snag another Miami title. It'll be interesting to see how it plays at the new stadium
Not sure if she will play both with 100%...but another IW title would be so great :hearts:

I think she’ll wake up for both these events. Indian Wells since it has history for her that she wants to rewrite and Miami because it’s her home tourney. And I think she also desperately wants to win ANY title at this point. So she’ll come out guns blazing to prove she belongs here even as a 37 yo mother.

I actually wouldn't mind her winning IW over Miami. On the one hand I feel gross saying that, on the other it would be a great historical feat. Miami has almost become the AO for me. She's pretty much the GOAT at those tournaments and future wins there are bonuses, and I'd rather she'd boost her stats elsewhere (like RG).

I'm hoping the new Miami courts play a little faster. IW is almost mud-like.

As much as I would love for Serena to win a title after more than 2 years, I'm keeping my expectations low. At this stage in her career, she is far more likely to do well at a Grand Slam than a regular tour event. In addition to that, it seems that she hasn't taken any steps towards improving her fitness and movement in the time since the Australian Open which is disappointing, but unsurprising. She will also be very draw-dependent yet again due to her ranking and will face a 5-8 seed in the 4th round which means there is a good chance she will play either Kerber or Pliskova after only two rounds.

On the plus side, Indian Wells is a two week event meaning that she will have a day to rest between matches and another positive thing to consider is the fact that she was a point away from beating two top 8 players in a row in Melbourne.

P.S. I am still salty about that 2016 final  (her outfit was so good)

I am also feeling hopeful. Even if she hasn't been training as much as she should have, there's 5 weeks between Miami and Madrid so let this be her practice at least.

Who knows, she can strike hot ala 2007 AO and win at least one to gain some confidence and momentum (I don't care how old she is, she's Serena fucking Williams and she can still do it.)

The draw can fall apart and she can play her way into form in at least one of the tournaments and recapture some of that aura.

Either way, I am just happy she is playing again!
