I'm squinting at this low quality draw...... Looks like R2 vs Svitolina? A mess

Venus is in the bottom quarter (possible SF) at least.

I hope Naomi will be in a post-IW slump. She’s barely defending anything in Miami and it’s her home so she won’t mind an early exit.

Crap draw! Couldn’t even let me have a day to enjoy Naomi and DelPo’s wins...

Should help Serena that the R1 will be on Wednesday. Osaka just played 7 matches and will only have 2 days of rest. I'm optimistic about Serena's chances.

Challenging first two rounds but if she can pull through she can make a deep run.
Yup. And given the question marks surrounding Serena's fitness/stamina, it's probably for the best that she play her toughest opponents earlier in the tournament. Playing Svitolina in the 2nd week with a depleted tank of energy would be a nightmare. :scared:

Federer losing and being a pissy bitch while losing will last a few more hours. Naomi finally coming in on her promise and the Russians losing in both singles and doubles is nice. Now for the Serena vs Naomi match, I’m all for it. The competitiveness has to be in overdrive for Serena after seeing the first round opponent. Playing Venus last also I hope helps not just game wise but mentally getting the cobwebs out of playing a big name.

Alright so had a dream yesterday ... that Serena would draw Osaka first round ... and guess what she did.
Are you going to fill out the first two posts?

All right, now that I have that out of my system , it would be nice if Naomi is a little starstruck and has a bit of a letdown coming off of IW. I fully believe Serena can pull this off but it's a pretty big ask this early on. Dead at how much the draw opens up if she can win her first two matches. :haha:

I'm glad she gets a fierce test early on. If she loses it'll make her wanna work even harder, because losing to Venus is one thing. Losing to a newbie (who's HP is Sascha) Serena would NOT take it. But with that being said...I think Serena plays her best when she's challenged early on. She gets right away into that no messing around mood. As far as I'm concerned, I just hope she does well. If she doesn't ... and loses R1 or R2 ... I hope she decides to play Charleston although I doubt she would.
