A 'High Quality Win' in this context, is a win over a payer in the top ten now, who was in the top ten when the defeat occurred. So a win over Dokic in last February doesn't count. A win over Dokic at Sanex would. Using her as an example, Jelena is two 'High Quality Wins' in2001. That's MATCHES, not tournaments. It's a bit of a tough standard, but its fair. for example ....

Jelena Dokic -2 'High Quaility' wins for the year.

Rome(May) Mauresmo 7-6(3) 6-1

Tokyo (Sept) Kim Clijsters 7-5, 6-4

So High Quality Wins are hard to get. Many players will have none. Analyze whoever you like this way. See what kind of year they had!

Remember, the player has to be inthe top ten NOW. So wins over Dementieva, Coetzer, Tauziat, Martinez so not ount for these purposes. WIns over Doikc only count if they were inthe last two weeks of the seaosn. (This gets Lindsay an extra two 'High Quality' wins.

16 Lindsay
12 Venus
09 Capriati
08 Serena
06 Monica
04 Hingis (sorry, Tauziat isn't in top ten)
02 Dokic

So far ....

Oops on that Kim and Lindsay at Stanford. Arne, Tauziat isn't in the top ten NOW. So she doesn't count. CURRENTLY in the top ten, AND in top ten when beaten.

15 Lindsay
12 Venus
09 Capriati
08 Serena
06 Monica
04 Hingis (sorry, Tauziat isn't in top ten)
03 Clijsters
02 Dokic

BTW, all you Monica lovers, when I see who's she's beaten this year, your faith in her game makes more sense.

Kim's win over Justine at Roland Garros doesn't count; Henin was ranked no.16 (I think) at the time. (Henin was no.9 after RG though.)
