No real surprises:
5 Special Ranks, including Bad Sport Babs, Russian born Dash and Gasperyan with a new name, the Vanpire Jacs and oddly, clay loving grass hating SST - whiny would have thought would have used her 2nd SR it at the US)

3 (Amanda, Halep, AVU) not entered.

maybe Hsieh is looking for a WC?

Since it’s a slam all entries are automatic, with just the few (3) withdrawals.
However it seems that the admission of Russian and Belarusian player is dependent on some form of public declaration by the players, so I wonder if all of them will actually accept this and really play, and I am thinking to players like Kudermetova that is sponsored by a Russian company banned in Europe for supporting the war.

Wimbledon is the slam where Sara has won the most matches so far with 3 alongside with the USO. She also reached the SFs of Bad Homburg in 2021 (helped by a w/o of Vika) and had a pretty epic battle against Angie in Wimbledon that year. And I don’t think she eventually needed her SR for Paris.

Did Svitolina not enter?
I reckon Monfils may get a WC

having said that - the Champs will be hard pressed not to award a heap of local WC’s this year- I can’t recall them awarding this many for 20/30 years
You’ve got to presume Jodes, The Face Katie, Hev, Swanners and Dart Will get one.
Given her high profile battles- Fran Jones is likely to be number 6.

Sonay and Yuriko would ordinarily get one but I think they’’ll miss out to Monfils and maybe someone who has a great run in Grass or RG

in previous years-a former top player or GS winner finalist like Pavs would get one - she won’t bc she is Russian
The Up and comers - like Andreev’s - would but they too are Russian

old Genie in a bottle may pull in the bikini and reminisce about her final and try and nab one too

ol Vera maybtry the same old trick but she ain’t ever been a swimsuit model - is Russian and 40 but pre Ukraine invasion and in years gone by, she could have been likely
Hsieh is another one who could have been awarded one but won’t this year given the GB glut of players between 100-200

Brogan and Silva - and use up tennis Australia only to switch to UK Bains- will likely be awardees qd wc, along with Sonners

Secretly hoping Maja Chwalinska could get a WC....

No chance unless she wins one of those big grass ITFs (Surbiton 100k, Ilkley 100k) before Wimbledon or has a big run in a grass WTA(excluding Eastbourne and Bad Homburg). I just think there is too much competition this year, as Brits will need more WCs than ever as none are direct entry and I think Svitolina will get one as a former semi-finalist and because of Ukraine. I think we need to see what happens in these grass ITFs and grass court WTAs before we see a final choice, these may have an important impact on which Britgirls receive the WCs as well, as there are a few similarly ranked and they will receive a maximum of 4-6 I think. I think last year's junior champion Liv Hovde is much more likely to be offered a QWC than a MDWC.

WC wise, there is going to be quite interesting if a (Bela)Russian without DA makes it deep in RG or wins a grass warm up.
In fact it will still be quite complicated if anyone who needs a WC goes deep or wins those tournaments.
Won’t all 8 go to brits this year so no warm up winners

Burrage
Boulter
Swan
Dart
Watson
Kartal
Jones
Miyazaki

Jones may or may not be fit.
Kartal hasn't really stepped on from last year and is now outside the top 250 which always used to be the cut off. Miyazaki has gone 1-7 since February and other than nearly qualifying at AO has not really looked worthy of a MDWC in 2023.

If they are all going to go to brits, I would rather reward Brogan and a top junior than Kartal and Miyazaki (unless they do something in the grass warmups).

Why? She's safely in qualifying with her PR being just four places below her career-high ranking. I love Maja, but there's no way that she could possibly be considered for a MDWC.

Top 400 was the cut off, not 250.
