The girl is a true bitch to the heart

Henin-Hardenne says top players don't like her rise
By Matthew Cronin

CARLSBAD, California, Aug 3 (Reuters) - World number three Justine Henin-Hardenne is making a strong run to the top of the rankings and the diminutive Belgian says the taller elite players do not like it.

"I think all these players don't like it I'm not so strong and tall and am not the same looking players as them," she told Reuters after beating compatriot Kim Clijsters 3-6 6-2 6-3 in the final of the $1 million Acura Classic on Sunday.

"They don't like to see me running all over the court and having power, too. Mentally, it's hard for them to compete against me."

Henin-Hardenne's comments came after Clijsters suggested that an injury timeout she took between the first and second sets to treat a blister on her right foot may have been more of a mental timeout.

"I'm sort of getting used to it," Clijsters told reporters. "She's done it in every match I've played against her.

"It's a matter of knowing if she's doing it for an injury or another reason. It didn't look like it was hurting because she was still running.

CONTROVERSIAL MATCH

"Those are moments that she's not feeling her best and she has to try to do different things. It's to her credit that she can turn matches around like that."

Henin-Hardenne was also involved in a controversial match against Serena Williams in the French Open semi-finals earlier this year.

The world number one accused her of gamesmanship in the third set when the Belgian failed to give her another serve after Henin-Hardenne held her hand up and Williams faulted.

Henin-Hardenne denied Clijsters's accusations, saying her Fed Cup team mate's comments were no more than sour grapes.

"She's disappointed that she lost today, that's the only reason she's saying this," Henin told Reuters.

"I don't know why all the players are talking about the incidents in my matches because I think I'm a fair player. She said it because she lost the match. I totally understand it.

"I just had to change the tape because the blister was burning. It had nothing to do with the mental part of the match."

The 21-year-old Henin-Hardenne has been working diligently on her fitness with trainer Pat Etcheberry over the last 10 months and credits him for making her stronger.

She is also a harder player mentally, which she said was the reason for her five titles this year.

It's a wee bit presumptuous of her to claim to know how the top players feel. I don't think they care if she's two inches tall and a wimp. (Quick question, why must she always bring up her 'pathetic' build?)

I think they care if something untoward happens in a match with her that throws them out of a groove.

That said - congratulations to her on winning today. Better luck to Kim in her next tourney.

Something weird is going on between these 2. They used to be friends...

Henin got herself a husband, a slam and now she's feeling like God. From now on, She shall be called HeninHardenne-AllMIghty!

Strange stuff gets in those heads, every time a player gets close to the no1 they act like they're the centre of the world. Happens every time

They were never that "close"... I'm not surprised by their comments-now that Justine is winning, but Justine should stop the speculating in regards to how the other top players feel... leave that to us ;)

 Damn, Justine's turned into quite a little bitch, hasn't she?! Yeah, she and Kim did pre-match interviews about how buddy-buddy they were; noticeably, Kim was the only one to mention that they were "friends"; Justine said something like it's vital to have "a good relationship" when you have to travel so much with one person.

Oh, and LMAO at Fyndh0rnElf!

I am getting tired of this David-Goliath syndrome that Justine has adopted. Martina Hingis, Amanda Coetzer all competed with larger women and were able to do it. She makes it seem that she is this weak, tiny woman, who is changing tennis or whatever. I will tell her that, because you are small/short does not necessary mean you are not strong.
She is no more special than Serena. Get over yourself. Please!

Now Henin's acting like there's this conspiracy set up to trap her. Poor diminutive Henin, fighting off the bad big girls ot the wta. She KNOWS they don't like her! Now she also has telepathic powers. Amazing HeninHardenneAlmighty, you're our heroine!

ps- The way she's going, if this 1 ever gets to no1, the bashers will have tons of material to back up their hatred filled attacks

ofcourse......ppl will say what they want.....wanting to taint Justine's great play today:(

its ashame, how something this small, like that comment by Kim can be blown up by *certain* fans here. There was never a question that Justine really needed that time out for her blisters IF YOU SAW THE MATCH. Otherwise if u just relied on live scores and interviews, keep ur mouth shut:D:D:D

GO JUSTINE!

Well, it looks like that Belgiums will be cat fighting all the way towards the Open.

Good for Venus. Now she can swing her racquet and skip all the way toward the US Open Coronation.

I did watch the match, every single point. I'm not disputing whether or not Henin had bad sportsmanship, because she did have blisters and you could tell that. But her attitude needs to be knocked down a few notches  I mean, you know it's bad when you've managed to piss off Kimmy!

Yeah she does seem to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder, not exactly the sweetest of players in my opinion, but then again it probably c0omes in hany in court battles..

I don't see how Justine is feeling like God.

anyway, I never believe that shit that Kim and Justine are close friends, bullshit. Kim didn't even go to Justine's wedding, she was rather waiting hours in Singapore to meet Lleyton, I am sure I would expect a friend to go to my wedding.

And you can tell that Justine hates losing to her, more than to any other player, she can be upset when she loses to Serena, Venus or any other but when it's against Kim she is really, really mad.

I think they just have been adviced to "look" friendly, and that's all.

Also, I never bought Kim being so nice, nobody is that nice, I am actually ok with her saying bitchy comments, that's more human, but what I don't like is when they pretend to be what they are not.
