I figured I'd start an Thread for Helene, even though it might be still an bit early.

Helene Pellicano is currently the #5 U-14 Player in Tennis Europe at an career high at the moment, Helene Pellicano is one of the current rising stars player coming out of Malta & seem too be a very promising bright prospect, for sure. I hoping she can be an big name in the future for Malta tennis on the WTA Tour in the long run :) ;)

Helene made the final of G14 Sanchez-Casal Youth Cup this week. :)

She was the top seed there, got a solid win over 3rd seed Anastasia Tikhonova in SF, 7-6(0) 6-0, but fell to 4th seed Smaranda Corneanu in the final, 3 & 2.

Helene is through to final of the Tennis Europe Junior Masters in U14 cat.!

She is the 3rd seed there, beat Kamilla Rakhimova 4-6 6-1 6-4 yesterday and Oana Smaranda Corneanu (who slew top seed Pachkaleva yesterday) in SF today, 0-6 6-3 6-2 :yeah: :eek:h:

Final vs. 4th seed Marta Kostyuk tomorrow :)

Fun fact: out of the 8 girls taking part to the U14 Masters, 6 girls were born in 2001 and only 2 were born in 2002... And guess what, the two 2002 girls are in the final!

Helene won the final in a third set tiebreak :yeah:

Should become U14 European #1 once 2001 girls are removed from the rankings at end of the year.

There are some videos of her from Eddie Herr last year.

"Four new champions have been crowned at the Tennis Europe Junior Masters after a testing final day of competition in which the weather proved to be as unpredictable as the results.
The first winner of the day at the CT Rocco Polimeni in Reggio Calabria was Helene Pellicano, who became the first ever Maltese Junior Masters champion, surviving not only heavy thunderstorms but also a thunderous fightback from her opponent. In contrast to her two previous matches, Pellicano started well, but Ukrainian rival Marta Kostyuk found her range to level the match at one-set apiece after a second rain break. Kostyuk then blasted to a 5-1 final set lead before the third seed once again found her rhythm, calmly making her way back into the match and taking a 6-5 lead.
By the time Kostyuk forced a deciding tie-break the momentum was with her opponent, and sure enough Pellicano conceded just one point to take the sixth and biggest title of what has been a productive year on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.
“I started very well and then I lost my concentration a little bit, and she started to play better. In the third set I had to concentrate really hard to come back from 5-1 down and I started playing very well. The rain made things very difficult,” she said.
Looking back at her season, Pellicano commented, “I am very happy with this year. I played some great matches and have played a lot of different players. Next year I’ll play some 16 & Unders and also some Under 18s.”"
