It AMAZES me how quickly people have written Venus off.

People say she is at a "crossroads" and that she is overshadowed by Serena and will fall by the wayside.

Before I start ranting, please explain to me why this is true, and all Venus fans, the loyal ones anyone, maybe they can help me out

Cause I just dont get it

Venus is no longer the number 2, especially since people from outside the top 20 have been beating her over the last 6 months, but I think shes still one of the players to look out for. But not on clay, but if shes going to win any slam this year it will be Wimby.

If you want a player who is at the crossroads in her career look at Anna K.

Venus will win one more slam. Either a French or a Wimbledon (not necessarly this year). She will end up with 5.

Serena will never win another slam. She will also end up with 5.

Take this to the bank.

why not on Clay? Venus reached the RG final last year, and has a Tier I title on clay, and that was before she was a GS champion.

and yes, people use that term very loosely

Poor Anna, she just cant get it together

Oh and only 1 player has beaten her outside of the top 20, and quite frankly most all of Venus's losses come to either Serena or someone not expected to have a chance to beat her

The next few years will be mostly dominated by Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo.

Look I know you probably have some counter argument for this but Venus' got a lucky draw, with Ferandez, if Clijsters or Dementieva had gotton through it could have been diffrent. Also I think now, people are less inimidated by the power the Williams' throw around, so on clay were they are unconfortable, they go for it a bit more.

Also Venus has a record of bad loses on clay, like against Babsi, Dokic, and whoever she lost to in 2000 at RG.

Dont get me wrong V has a few more slams in her, but I dont think it will be at the French Open.

(Would say take it to the bank, but then she would win RG this year!)

The sisters are already starting to lose more often, and very soon in the slams, their era is over. But like I said Venus will win one more.

Venus was number #1 back in 2000 when she won her first grandslam.
But could not get there by the ranking because Martina Hingis was
holding it by playing millions of tournaments.
The same scenario is developing here again. How could Clijsters be
seeded ahead of Venus in any grand slam or otherwise.
You all clijsters fans know that had she not played so many tournaments
very more than Venus, she could have not gotten the #2 ranking in
the world. But I am sure that doesn't bother Venus too much either.
Venus is not suck as some of you may think. What makes her suck.
Ooh because she skipped many tournaments and allowed clijsters to
over take her. Anybody who rules out venus' ability to win any grand
slam or getting the number #1 back is silly.
Venus doesn't want to be Navritelova who is playing tennis at the age
of 47. Venus has her business. She may not want to sit around tennis
tour commentating.
With this in mind, why bothering with rankigs. That doesn't make
some one suck. I think the person who came up with this thread is
sucked like her or his old self.

Maggie Maleeva

Meghann Schaughnessy

Okay its not that long, but considering the dominance shes supposed to have, she should not loose to these players.

You can never count Venus out. And if her opponents are smart, they won't either.

I don't count losing to Bovina a legit loss because it was an exhibition. What kind of motivation do you have to give it your all during those?! She lost to Maggie in Moscow, on Maggie's best surface and after not having played for weeks and weeks. It was also a three-setter. As for Megs, she was just too good that day. That was a legit loss and props to Megs!

Venus will be rising higher than ever soon!!! :)

Yes I have counted Venus out. Her play has not been encouraging, but mostly, the other players in the top 6 are better right now.

Maleeva- Venus played like CRAP. 48 Errors, and Maleeva played unbelievable that tournament, and it still was 7-6 in the third

Bovina- Exo's dont count

Shaughnessy- Meghann was hot like fire, and Venus was OFF. But all props to Megs on that one

any others?

Anyway, I'm happy to note that 18 others believe that Venus is Queen and The Queen Shall Be lifting up the Winners Trophy At Roland Garros in 2 weeks time :)
