Have you ever been recording a match featuring yer fave and she was losing and you thought there was no hope so u stopped the tape, or even stopped watching because you couldn't bear to watch them lose...and in the end they actually win!!! :D

I have stopped the tape alot of times and some of the times they win and I get mad at myself and other times they don't and I am happy I didn't watch it. I have actually stopped many tapes featuring a Williams sister and they have been great matches, but I just can't bear to watch them lose. :p

Here are mine:

I stopped recording the 2000 Estyle.com Classic Final between Lindsay and Serena when Lindsay went up a set and a break in the second and Serena came back to win in a third set tie-break!!!! I was sure she was gonna lose, Lindsay was playing soo good.

I stopped watching the Venus vs. Martina US Open classic SF in 2000 after Venus went down 3-5 in the third. I think left right around the time when Richard left. But when I came back home a couple hours later my mom mentioned how great a comeback it was and I almost shit my pants. I watched the tape right away, thank god I didn't stop it. :)

I've never turned one off... but I've had tapes run out on me. 1990 French Final. Monica was down 2-6 in the tiebreaker and my tape died. I never saw the next 6 points she won in a row, but I did get the 2nd set. Also when Monica beat Navratilova in Wimbledon, my tape puked at 1-0 in the 3rd, luckily I was able to jam another one in quicklike to preserve such a great match.

wimbledon 95;)
Why´s that?! I thought the ´93 one...I´d turned that one out, no way would I´ve believed she would have won that one.

I nearly turned out the Serena-Kim semi at the Oz this year. I was MAD at Serena for playing that badly and those annoying Belgian commentators! Well, in the end it was me who was laughing harder!!

Of all the matches I have recorded, the one that stands out (painfully) is the first game of the 1999 French Final (Graf d. Hingis). I was following it live online, and got to the scoreboard point where it was 5-2 in the third, and then there was this long pause without a change- I was crazy trying to refresh the page, thinking I'd lost connection. I had the VCR all set to start taping the beginning of the match on NBC (which wasn't telecast live- when is the French ever live?)- the TV coverage came on, and the computer scoreboard started again unexpectedly, and I hit the VCR record button, but didn't have the TV on the correct channel, so I missed the entire first game when Hingis broke Graf, and most of Hingis' first service game of the match!

To this day I've never seen those games!

I don't stop the recording, but I do tape over the matches if my faves lose an especially painful match. Why should I keep matches that just make me angry?

This year I taped the USO women's final, taped over that the men's final, and will tape over that the action from the Masters' Cup.

I'm a glutton for punishment, usually I torture myself by watching every last single moment....

i wanted to go to sleep last november during the tour end championship final cuz I had a feeling that serena was gonna lose.. but I just couldn't bail on my girl. and she lost.

so then at oz '03 when she was losing to Kim... i almost walked away.. but had faith in her. :)

venus has given me a coupla scares over the years, but I have gotten used to the scratchy periods she goes through in matches and know to hang in there..

Yeah I did that when Jen was playing against Monica in the aussie open 2001 ... She lost the first set and was down a break in the second I just couldn´t watch.

I hit the stop button three times and two out of the three my favorite ending up lossing. The first was Steffi vs. Patty Shnider (sp?) 'US Open 98'- after the first set I hit stop, turned the tv off, and went outside to ride my bike to help calm my nerves (I'm having flashbacks right now, so I've got to move on). The second match was Serena vs. Justine 'french open 03'- The only set I saw in it's entirity was the first set, try as I may, I couldn't get myself to keep watching I was too nervous. The only match that I've stopped recording, and there was a turn around, was Serena vs. Kim 'this years OZ'. When Kim won her 5th game in the third set I turned the tv off. It wasn't until a week later, thanks to a friend, that I was actually able to see the rest of the match. My new way of looking at it now is, 'if my fav is going down I'm going down with em.'
