No, don't worry about it, it's a really entertaining book on what goes on behind the scenes in the WTA in the 2000 season. I think you'll have a blast reading it. Enjoy!
I agree with Quentin Wong - Wertheim's book is quite entertaining for tennis fans, better than I expected in fact, but not a literary masterpiece or anything. I mean, no non-tennis fans would find it interesting in the least.
But I really got a kick out of it and wished it continued into the 2001 season.
Thanks Quentin, I've found it now! It looks good, definitely the kind of book I'd enjoy. I'm sure I'm going to be tempted to order it in the next few days; something to read in November/December when there's little tennis!
yup, I successfully bought it from amazon.com, took me a while to get all the details in and them to accept my card!!!!
anyway it will be a great read i hope cos at the moment am reading books that are jsut doing my head in!! for my course so it will be a nice change and will reaasure me that I actually do like reading again!
i read the first chapter last night, and its sooo good!! some of the stuff about lindsay I have sseen others writing the exact same things, maybe he used that material when writing the book.
at the mo it seems as if lindsay is really popular on the tour!
Yes, Lindsay is VERY LOVABLE! To the other players as well as to her multitude of fans!
It's hilarious to learn what type of thoughts go through her head during a match. My enjoyment of watching her play has been greatly increased since reading the book, as I picture what is going on in her mind.
It had a lot of good laughs-and I liked everyone better afterwards except Richard Williams and Kournikova, and in Ann'a case I don't care cause she's Anna! Some of the quotes by and about Anna K. had me laughing out loud.
Lindsay comes out very well in the book, even if Jon shatters the "sweet little girl next door" image and replaces it with a real person. The "real" Lindsay is much more lovable.
The best part of the Aussie Open chapter was Davy getting all dressed up to take pics with her big trophy. After suffering through all the pics(on a gondola!) the gondola man asks if she wants to return for more pics. Let's just say she wasn't in the mood!
