First set was very competitive, second set was all Iva. Congrats to the 17 y/o on a great week. Up to 36 in the live ranks

Noice. Star in the making?

Could be seeded for AO.

Good winner for a rather sparsely populated 500.

First of many to come! 😍

And a WTA 500 title she starts with. Impressive. I feel she’s gonna be top 30 and seeded at the Australian Open.

Congrats to Arango too on another 500 final this year. Surely NOBODY saw that coming lol 🤣

Jovic and Mboko are the best movers this year.

Mboko started ranked 300 in January, she’ll finish top 25. Jovic started ranked 191 in January, she’ll finish top 35 at least. Doesn’t happen too often. And both are so young.

What happened to Arango? Illness or injury? Sucks for her to end it this way, especially after the double bagel last time.

In a way though it was a fitting end to an absolute joke of a tournament. Jovic is decent but even the 125 title she won earlier this year was stronger and more impressive than this..
Nothing happened to Arango. I like her but she won’t win against an aggressive in-form player. This time it was a decent final from her but she probably can’t win above 250 level though she came close both times in 500 this year.

The likes of Kalindskaya and Muchova should take notes.
A 17 yo manages to win a 500 meanwhile Muchova only managed to win one Korea Open in 2019 which I think is a 250. Kalinskaya managed to get to multiple finals but never won a title other than challenger ones.
Tactics on scheduling helps a lot.
Also Jovic is used to winning things and does not have a complex about winning tournaments, which both Muchova and Kalinskaya must have by now.

Ok first - Arango was def hindered at some point but was a v good sport in the end. V sweet that she made every effort to congratulate Jovic and they hugged at the net and Iva also went over to hug her a second time. Nevertheless, I do think Jovic was a deserving winner.

Aside from this - JESUS GUYS, i was NOT expecting that voice coming out of Iva when she gave the speech. I say this as a lady with a super deep voice. Iva girl, no shame at all just sooooooooo unexpected LOL

Arango looked ill, and that made up for quite an underwhelming final (and that’s on top of it being underwhelming even before it started considering it was a WTA500 final between two players outside the top 50).

Arango looked uncomfortable between the points of the first set, and like she was about to faint between the points of the second set. It feels like she completed the match only because it was a final. I think she would have retired had it been a first round match.

Anyway, I think Jovic would have won even if Arango was feeling better, her game is just better. Props to her for using the opportunity.

Winning the semi and final with aces is simply boss  Arango was that close you'd have to say she could have won it if in peak condition... seemed not to retire because of her 'home' crowd and Iva friendship.

Iva so mature and composed... and pretty.... watch those $$$ roll in. Still plenty room for improvement but great to see pure ball striking has a place in the women's game even while lacking physique.

and her streak of 30 wins when taking the first set is simply Igaesque :worship:

Yayyyyy Iva!
She is an aggressive little thing, but I just honestly have no clue how she will fair on the tour or where she will peak. Her height and petite structure will hinder her I fear. But have to appreciate that she tries to be aggressive, most of the time.
On another note, I know she won 3 matches out of 5 this week with an ace. You don’t see that too often.
