Greatest match of 2001?
OK, so unless tomorrow´s final is an epic, or Arantxa clinches the Fed Cup 20-18 in the final set, I think it´s safe to ask: what do you guys think was the best match of 2001?
I go for Capriati - Clijsters in the french Open final; not so much for quality of tennis (although that was great), but for being a truly enthralling encounter.
Any other ideas?

I remember one match Serena/kim in Indian Wells or Miami, i forgot..great match!
I would have to agree with Jenn-Kim at Roland Garros, followed closely by Martina-Serena at Oz.
Thats what came to my head immediately when i read the title, was Jenn and Kim <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> <br />I think I still have that on tape! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> (or did I tape over it with Ferrero and Guga?..hmmm..)

The quality of Jennifer vs. Kim was awful, at least in the first 2 sets.<br />My vote goes to Lindsay vs. Serena at US Open, that one was great.<br />Serena vs. Monica in toronto also was one hell of a match.<br />Today's semi-final was great, too.

For me:<br />Jenny vs venus in the miami final (the 3 set) , incredible level.<br />and....the best for me was when serena beat seles in the canadian open =(, i never saw these power in a match, my god!!!!!!!!!!<br />and my surprise, when clarisa fernandez def asagoe in the fed cup (argentina vs japan) 10-8 in the 3 set <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> <br />salutes, argentino <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

TennisMenace: I would agree that Hewitt-Roddick and Agassi-Sampras are among the best matches played on the ATp this year.<br />I'd throw in Guga vs Ferrero at Rome, and say it was the best one played on clay.<br />As for Grass, it'd have to be Federer-Sampras, Rafter-Agassi, and Rafter-Goran.
In fact I think Rafter-Goran takes the cake for match of the year on BOTH tours.

1. Hingis def. Serena AUS Open qaurterfinals
Just a really high quality match, two contrasting styles of play and it went down to the wire, with lots of drama.
2. Serena def. Davenport US Opem quarterfinals
Another really high level of play match, very up and down, very intense. I don't think anyone was 100% convinced either would come out on top until the match point was over. Excellent match.

No doubt in my mind, the greatest and the most exciting - Capriati vs. Clijsters in the French Open final!!! The most strange match - Capriati vs. S.Williams in the quarter final at Wimbledon!!! (What a turn around!! Particularly the game where Serena serving for the match, but then lost that game in love to Jen!! (If I remember it right!!??) )
