I think this is great news!!! It means she is serious about taking more time to let this foot heal, and not rush a comeback. And that she plans on playing next year!!!!

good news definitely, people... did we really expect her to lose the possibility of an injury ranking and go off and play moscow and then have the heartbreak of not being in the final 8? it's much better this way... she likes the courts in australia. HOPEFULLY monica won't play any of the exhibitions like last year (save it for when you're retired, monica...) and she can be in good shape and ready to go.

HAVE U GUYS SEEN THE RECENT PICTURES OF HER??? she looks fantastic! very happy too... she wants to get back...

Yes, she looks great - I agree faboozadoo15!! I would post the pics here, but we are not suppossed to do that anymore. We have the press confrence pic on our home page, and the one where she is with BJK and Lendl on our forum for anyone interested.

I was firmly of the opinion that she was about to retire. I freely admit I was wrong, and I'm happy I was wrong. It sounds like she isn't done yet. That makes my day.

its okay seles... i did the same, just not on the boards. i didnt want to set myself up for disappointment just to have her retiring hit me hard when it came. i even went to the extent of finding a new player (and im really glad i did). ive picked roger as monica's successor and ive already met him!! how terribly ironic. ive been a seles fan for 15+ years and ive only seen her play in person once...

Yes, I believe this was in 1996...
