Re: [Grand Slam] Wimbledon 2010

EWWWWWW Justin won again. Kvitova def. Lisicki 7-6 4-6 6-3

I defos should have won that match. I had like 1/12 BPs converted and several break points in the opening few games of the 3rd set.

I think it's time to ban L trigger risk shots in rallys, all risk returns and risk serves all together. :tears: They totally ruin the matches shortening the points so much. The points Justin wins are like 'serve, short return, winner' or 'serve, return winner'. I usually win the longer rallies. :tears:

You won pretty much every rally where I used the L trigger. I simply used the L trigger spin shots to stay in the rallies longer. Your serve was easier to read in the 3rd set and that's how I finally got the break. I think we should ban returning inside the baseline.

Dont be mad Mikey

That was the worst I've ever serve in an official tour match. I couldn't understand why I kept double faulting.
Mikey won most of the long rallies except when he had a break point on my serve. It was odd. I just kept telling myself that if I cold just hold onto my serve I would eventually get a break. I finally did in the 3rd set and held on for dear life to win it.

Whoever started the set the best lost it. Mikey had so many chances to break me in the 1st set and then I won the tiebreak without dropping a point on serve. I started the 2nd set holding serve easily in my first 2 service games and having a bp in one of Mikey's service games and I lost it. The 3rd set was similar to the 1st set except I actually got a break of serve. Overall my play wasnt great but I played well when it mattered.

This is the 2nd tour match where I've completed sucked and been dominated in the rallies and still managed to win it. The other was the Rome final. Usually while I specialize at winning quicker points, Im still pretty good in rallies. Today was not the case

Yes you use it on the run to throw up a deep top spun ball that lands just before the baseline. It's very annoying. I notice you also use them in rallies with flat shots and it often results in an easy winner or a short returned rally ball which you can easily put away. Plus I noticed you stopped using both the R & L triggers and used the R trigger for returns a lot of the 3rd set. Once you started actually getting returns in then you got some rhythm and were away. Good work there, I guess. :sobbing:

And oh sorry. I just can't help being mad. (It's like 3:30am here and I'm tired and cranky ) But it really frustrates me when I play you, more than another other player. It's not because I haven't beaten you. It's just that I know I have had chances to beat you and have come quite close but every time I do have a chance you take a little risk yourself and sneak in a risk shot and more often than not, it goes in. I myself don't like using risk shots in the majority of the game. Ok yeah I like using it on serve, which I would gladly give up if everyone joined in and it resulted in more rallies, but on return I hate them. You're the only player I use risk returns on regularly. It's like I feel like I need to hit them just to keep up with you. Otherwise I like to time the return normally, start a rally and win the point with a rally. Even using those deep top spin L trigger returns are more "enjoyable" than hitting the R trigger returns (or both R&L which is so much harder for me) and half the returns being winners and the other half going into the crowd. It just gets so boring and very frustrating when a game of tennis only consists of 3 or less shot rallies like just service winners, winners hit off short returns and return winners. I wish we could all agree to play a tournament without any risks at all to see how that would go, but I don't know. Everyone seems to love their risk shots a lot. They're like drugs, we're all are addicted!!!11!!1 :crying2:

Anyway I'm not trying to take anything away from you. You won today fair and square, and are just plain better than me at risk returning when the time comes for it. Besides I'm sure you can play very well without the risk shots and I'm sure you also spent a lot of time perfecting the timing on the risk shots you do use now. Maybe if I practised using them a lot then I'd be a goat risker too, but I totally CBF. :sobbing: Anyways essay rant over. :) Good night. I need to be up in like 3 hours : dead :

Those weren't LT shots. I cant hit them on flat shots or I make a lot of errors. Those were just regular a shots. I hold the button down early so I can my a hots as hard as possible so even if they arent placed that well the pace will still trouble my opponent. I did use a lot of L trigger shots to hit the high looping spin shots to land deep but you seemed to handle them well in this match. I used to use just the regular shots but then it seemed like everyone online was using risks so I started to incorporate them into my game. I can play matches where I only use normal shots in rallies but its difficult for me not to hit trigger shots on returns because I've been doing it for so long that its become second nature. I used to be anti risk shot but then I started to think that being good at the game means being able to use all the shots. I also like that trigger shots allow for errors. I play game online where both me and my opponent hit R trigger shots in rallies and have long rallies. It just depends on the player.

I understand where you coming from trigger shots are a preference. Some love them and some hate them. Regardless I think you should have won our match today. I dont think I won the match because of my return. I think I won it because of my serve. On most of the bps in the 1st I simply slices a side out wide or down the line and yo either hit a return error or an incredibly short reply which allowed to hit a normal flat shot winner. You also hit most of the return in the same spots. I didnt start to return well or play better in the rallies until the 3rd set. The match should have already been over as you should have won it something like 6/2,6/4.
