Not really-because the idea of a 4th major didn't come out of nowhere. Up until the early 1930s there was only the "Big Three"-with Wimbledon way head of the other two.Does anyone else think the Australian Open should have only begun being recognized as an official major in say 1981? Perhaps had a 4th different major event for men and women until then.
No apology needed at all Louloubelle. It is the perfect place to post.Apologies if this isn't the right place to post - and happy to delete. Just found a typo in 1988 Australian Open singles results. It has Navratilova beating E. Minter in both the 1st and 2nd rounds. Martina's 2nd round win was over Anna-Maria Fernandez.
